Never really been into Jazz-Funk, but when I was checking out some lesser known Motown artists, I came across a group by the name of Dr. Strut... and then fell in love with this absolute JAM!

I had Dr Strut recordings on vinyl. You should check out the Motown group Cook County song "Funky Get It". Also Motown had a jazz group call Flight and they were pretty good.
Hey blkfrost, I downloaded all the Dr. Strut LPs from online and I like them, I have to say.
I’ll check out that group, and that song! Sounds interesting...
Oh yes, I found out about the ‘Flight’ group while researching too... I remember they did a great instrumental version of The Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body [[Down To The Ground”...!!
Hi Tom,
I'd heard of Dr Strut, but never looked into them. Nice Find thanks for posting.
Paul
By the way, I checked out Cook County and their Pinball Playboy album, and, well, I like it! Great disco-y jazzy-funky type thang.
TomatoTom123, and how simpatico you should share this, as we learn of Hugh Hefner's passing.
Some more Motown Jazz-Funk!!!!
Gettin’ funky with the jazz
STRUTTIN with that funk
Tight groove
Can’t find it on YouTube but there’s a great Dr. Strut cut [[!) called “No, You Came Here For An Argument” which I love
If Jazz-Funk could ever be described as ‘argumentative’ that track really is... lol
How ‘bout some jazzy Junior Walker?
Nice and very jazzy version of “Until You Come Back To Me [[That’s What I’m Gonna Do)”
Lovely instrumental version of Stevie’s “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”...
Forgot about Ozone!!!!
Love it
This certainly is funkin’ insane
Not sure if this counts as instrumental jazz-funk but then again I’m not sure the repetition of “ba” counts as lyrics either...
