    Law Of The Land

Just received my copy of Nothing But The Truth, the Undisputed Truth cd and have a question concerning the two versions of Law Of The Land.
The single version [[track 19 on cd2) is the same version as the 'album version' on the Undisputed Truth Essential Collection cd [[i.e. without the high pitch synth at 02:25) whereas the album version on track 12 cd1 is the same version as the single issued in the U.K.

So which version was actually issued on the 'Law Of The Land' album? Have these two tracks got mixed-up on NBTT?
Was the UK single a different version than the US single version.

Hey masterblaster, I recieved my copy of Nothing But The Truth today but haven't opened it yet. It sounds to me like the two versions of "Law Of The Land" have been mixed up, but I'm not sure.

According to discogs, the version of the song on the original 1973 album Law Of The Land clocks in at 4:24 minutes: https://www.discogs.com/Undisputed-T...d/master/55692

And the US single version is 3:37 minutes long: https://www.discogs.com/Undisputed-T.../master/167505

But I'm not sure of the running time for the UK single version. I think it might be 3:42, but I'm not sure: https://www.discogs.com/The-Undisput.../master/770112

Hi Masterblaster. I haven't received my copy of 'Nothing But The Truth' so haven't listened to the 2 versions of 'Law Of The Land'. However, are you aware that this song appeared on 2 Undisputed Truth albums? The version without the synth was on the 'Law Of The Land album. The version with the synth was on the 'Down To Earth' album.

Hope that hasn't confused you even more!!

If would appear then that the fist track of the Law Of The Land album is therefore the Down To Earth version and the 'single ' version is actually the US release [[without the synth'.
The UK single is different from the US as it includes the synth.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Oh, yea, I forgot about that as well! Thanks Ozmo.

I just checked and that version is 4:30 minutes long according to discogs, which means... erm, I don't know... lol... https://www.discogs.com/Undisputed-T...release/553342

Also, the UK [[Tamla Motown) release of the Down To Earth album is slightly different to the US release, as it contains two bonus tracks in "Gonna Keep On Tryin' 'Til I Win Your Love" and "Let's Go Back To Day One"... but I'm not sure if the version of "Law Of The Land" is any different on it. It doesn't show running times: https://www.discogs.com/The-Undisput...release/299783

    This is so confusing, lol

Please forgive my unhelpful and rather irrelevant ramblings... and find the answers to the mystery surrounding The Undisputed Truth's "Law Of The Land" at this thread:

    https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthrea...-But-The-Truth

Just to be clear... there are two versions of the song, one with synthesiser effects, one without... the one without was released on The Truth's original Law Of The Land album in 1973 and then as a single in the US... the one with the synths was released as a track on the group's Down To Earth LP in 1974 and also as a single in the UK that same year... phew!!!!
