    The Tops were inarguably the most polished of the original Hitsville acts, well-versed in delivering jazz and pop standards. Their first album for the company [[on its short-lived Workshop jazz label) was nothing but this sort of material. That they were able to transition to the developing Motown Sound bespoke their versatility.
