Oh dear; I notice Diana got top billing over Mary and Chance in the last report. Does this cause any distress?

Ha! Not a tad. Thanks for finding these - Diana in the same bill as Mary J and Chance. A prior colleague is at an off-market casino and being followed by male strippers. A gig is a gig, one supposes.

John Legend, Diana Ross Sparkle at Essence Music Festival: Day 1 Highlights

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/co...y-1-highlights

"On Friday [[June 30), Yuna, Gallant and Doug E. Fresh performed in the SuperLounges upstairs, while India.Arie, John Legend, Rhonda Ross and her mom Diana Ross held down the main stage.

Friday marked the first night of the three-day event and although the crowd seemed a bit light, it was only the first night: There are still two more days for festival attendees to fill the city’s SuperDome and anticipate some of the biggest names in music."

Now if only Mary Wilson could ever share such an event and such a stage with such people, particularly Diana!

Mary J. Blige and Diana are besties; Mary Wilson tries but always makes bad choices - her classic error being Hillary over Barack! Well, after Pedro of course

Mary Wilson has nothing to do with this thread. Keep your under handed comments to yourself. You have a history of making smart assed comments.

No popcorn or massage at this gig, it seems. That's interesting about Ross & Blige; I was not aware. Blige has certainly become a 'lifer', career-wise. Gotta give a lady due props.

Yeah Mary made the choice last week of headlining the Royal Variety Show at the London Palladium. Everyone should make that kind of choice and they would not have to endure playing to empty seats at Dailey's and the Essence Festival..............................hehehehehehe he!

I find it laughable that you even attempt to compare Mary J. Blige to Diana Ross LOL! Mary J. Blige is 2017. Diane Ross is 1967 or 1977. Nothing at all in common.

It saddens me to know that the once great Diana Ross of the Supremes has now been relegated to performing on the opening night of the three day Essence Festival to a minuscule crowd. It's kind of depressing when you think of someone that some once considered "the Queen of Motown" having to beg for applause now. I really think she should hook up with some other oldies acts like Frankie Valli or maybe, perhaps the Beach Boys and go on a nationwide "Back to the Sixties" tour and leave large, currently popular events like the Essence Festival to today's popular acts. She was so out of place there.

Diana Ross is nothing compare to Mary J. Blige...."The Queen of Hip Hop"! Ross wouldn't make it as an opening act for Mary J. because they have drastically different audiences.

I am sure the festival organizers were hoping that Ross, India Irie and John Legend would be strong enough to warm up the stage for the big superstars that would perform on Saturday evening, but sadly that did not turn out to be the case.

Pettiness and back biting. Sad, with all of what's going on in the world, we are reduced to reading silly posts. It was a concert festival that by the sounds of it folks really enjoyed.

Perhaps the Board is united in that "we didn't vote for Trump"!

I don't think we should take these discussions all too seriously.

I recall Ralph once said that "it goes with the territory" in reference to criticism that is leveled at celebrities/stars like Diana Ross. I'm sure she took it all "to the bank" with another smile.

Sorry to burst your bubble here but the organisers originally asked for Diana to headline the show, and whilst she initially showed some interest she decided she did not want to travel to the UK. They asked her to rethink the situation. By this time all the audience tickets had been sold. When Diana turned them down for a 2nd time they asked Chaka Khan and Celine Dion. Both had prior engagements. Shirley Bassey was also approached but was not interested. Mary Wilson was on a reserve list alongside Lulu . Mary accepted the gig along with the previously booked Martha Reeves and the rest as they say is history. I was not going to mention this publicly but your constant jibes about Diana have finally made me snap. You brought it on yourself. hehehehehehe he!

And to add insult to injury most of the audience did not even know who Mary Wilson was.Ouch. That must have hurt.

You are quite correct of course, but he needed to know the truth. That is my final word on the topic. He can spout as much bile as he likes now that he knows the truth. I am out of here. Bye.

this reversed wording by Billboard is intended as subtle commentary ?
