Diana also did engagements at the Westchester Premier Theater in '73 or '74 and multiple sell-out long run engagements at the Westbury Theater in the '80s; these theaters were nearby suburbs of NYC and may be of interest to your research.

She also played the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC in 1970, and maybe 1971-1972 as well.

There was also a Westchester Premiere Theatre performance in 1975, I believe. She was the first to perform there, and the ad read something like "Reach out...and be touched."

A 1977 performance at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium.

The 1992 THE LADY SINGS...JAZZ AND BLUES performance for Pay-Per-View at the Ritz.

A 1996 [[I think) performance at Jones Beach.

A 2003 Lincoln Center performance as part of some sort of Jazz presentation.

The 2008 DIVAS WITH HEART benefit at Radio City, with Gladys, Chaka, and Patti.

The 2015 performance which re-opened the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.

Correct that Diana Opened the Westchester PT; I attended a show. Comedian Sandy Barron was the supporting act! I forgot all about Forest Hills, a stand-alone show right before filming of The Wiz began [[yup, I attended) and the Walforf-Astoria Empire Room shows are a good addition; that was the 'Let's See If Diana Ross Can Make It On Her Own' show. Opened with the galloping 'Don't Rain ...' in the big afro and mirrored dress, segueing into 'Reflections' with a strobe light on the mirrored dress. It's a miracle I didn't drop dead then and there!

Ok, I have new dates. Thank you all...

1970 at Waldorf Astoria September 9 to 26
    1972 at Waldorf Astoria

1977 at Forest Hill Stadium July 23
1980 Forest Hill Stadium august 16
1995 at Forest Hill Stadium july 6, 7

1982 July 2 Giant stadium - almost no info about this one but it happened and from one report, the stadium was full.

I just have a question... Since tickets sales work closely with record sales, what is the reason she could have been booked for two dates at Forest Hill Stadium in 96 when her agenda is reduced to 2 nights at Radio City ????

Re Giants Stadium, according to one review I read, 44,000 people attended the show. Supporting acts were Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and Miles Davis.

I don't think ticket sales are always influenced by record sales. After all, Diana hasn't had a huge hit in the US since 1985. Yet she still draws a crowd. She has a good reputation as an entertainer and as such is always going to pull in the fans. I gather New York has always been a strong market for her, and there are many venues to play while might account for the response she receives there.

And of course, maybe there might have been times when the way dates were booked influenced where she could play. I know that when she did her 1984 record-breaking stint at Radio City, Peter Allen was already booked to follow her there. But because of the high demand for Diana, Radio City rented Carnegie Hall for him to perform in instead.

I attended the Westchester Premier Theater show. It was her birthday the night I attended. Many drag queens were there.

I also attended the Forrest Hills show just as Upside Down was released. I thought she did 2 nights there.

I also attended the Giant Stadium show. It was 90 percent sold out. It was on July 4. She had a big named opening act, and a very disappointing but highly promised fireworks display. It consisted of sparklers burning spelling the name "Diana." That was it !!

    Quite a list!

Did Diana actually perform those dates in 1987 at Universal Amphitheater? I remember she had to cancel many tour dates due to her pregnancy at that time.

I found the information in "Orange Coast Magazine" july 1987, but I also remember reading she cancelled dates. In the LA Time 1989, they wrote she hadn't perform in LA in five years. But there was a Red Hot tour on the west coast with dates in May and June plus a stay at Caesars Palace where she sang "Home".
As Ross was born in october 87, I assume she cancelled a late july engagement at Universal.
