Wow Manny, that's some list. Great work. You can add The Invitations [[Look On The Good Side, at least), and The Manhattans to Bobby Martin's list.

Thanks, Soulwally. I have actualized my post adding The Invitations [[I have one track in "The Spirit Of Philadelphia, Vol. 1" CD that I think is the same that the one you refers; IMHO sounds like The Intruders!).

Some artists on this list have stuff produced by different Philly producers: The Manhattans by Bobby Martin and years after by Norman Harris; some should to appears on two or more different lists. Is not a real "work", is a "hobby"... really I don't knows where is the Word document on this moment and I "reconstructed" the list by memory, adding some ones I have forget re-editing the original post.

    Cheers to all.

Holy smokes, Manny! What an impressive listing! All this time, I thought I was at least one of the Kings of Philly Soul collectors. Instead, I'm seeing artists on your list who I've never even heard of! Looks like I've got some fancy catchin' up to do! But that's the magic of Philly Soul. You take a Sigma Sound record by a group you've never even heard of, and the music will be just as thrilling as a Philly release by The Spinners, The Three Degrees, or The Stylistics.

BTW, at first glance, you can add Lesley Gore to your category of Gamble & Huff "Outside Productions". She had two Mercury tracks around 1967 or '68 -- "Look The Other Way" and "I'll Be Standing By" produced by them. [[The tracks are very good, although it's disappointing to note that, just today, I read where Lesley had commented that she never had the opportunity to meet Gamble & Huff in person. The instrumental tracks were produced by G&H, and then sent to Mercury Records for Lesley to add her vocals to. So much for envisioning her standing at the mic in Sigma Sound Studio!)

When I have time, I'll check my Philly Soul Playlist and see if I have any Sigma Sound recordings in my collection that aren't on your list. Although alphabetized by Artist, and including each track that I own a recording of, the list is LONG and it may take a while to compare your listing with mine.

Again, great job compiling that list! Do you actually have each one of those recordings, Manny, or are you merely aware that they exist?

PS: Ya know, Manny, if you REALLY wanna get down and thorough with the Philly Soul productions, you could add the Cameo/Parkway releases to that list! It would cover the hot tenor/baritone sax sound of the 1950's and '60s, thus paving the way for the more elegant Philly Soul sound of the 1970's and early '80s which you've already covered so magnificently. Just a thought!

While we're at it, check this out. I had this 45 on Cameo by The Applejacks as a kid and played the hell out of it. I was only 8 years old at the time, but I knew how to get down with that sax! [[Dave Appell & The Applejacks were Cameo/Parkways's in-house band. They may have been white, but, boy, were they hot!

Impressive, manny! You can also add Phyllis Hyman to your Thom Bell section. He produced and arranged 6 tracks on her Goddess of Love Arista LP: "Your Move, My Heart," "Let Somebody Love You," "Falling Star," "We Should Be Lovers," "Just Me and You," and "Just Twenty-Five Miles to Anywhere."

Hi again and many thanks for your apportions, Philles/Motown gary and Sansradio

Yesterday I made a on-line bought at spanish Amazon, the book "Soul & Funk Covers" [[as I am a graphic designer, I have high interest in the art direction in the music sleeves and packaging in music field; this past Chritsmas, the girlfriend of my older son made to me as a present the book "Jazz covers" from the same editorial, Taschen / Universalis)... Here appears advertising of other products relationated [[other books and CD's and vynils of Soul and Funk) and I found THE VOLUME 4 OF "THE SPIRIT OF PHILADELPHIA" [[I believed the collection stopped in the volume 3!!). Here's the track-list with Philly outside productions that I ignored until now:

    1. How Have You Been - Everett 'Blood' Hollins
    2. Love You Just As Long As I Can - Free Spirit
    3. Ready Willing And Able - The Temptations
    4. No Danger Ahead - Ben E. King
    5. Don't Close The Book - The Futures
    6. Merry-Go-Round - Monday After
    7. Life Is What You Make It - Tapestry
    8. Keeping Up With The Jonses - Billy Proctor & Love System
    9. All I Need - Anacostia
    10. Keep In Touch - The Choice Four
    11. Cup [[Runneth Over) - Ronnie Dyson
    12. I Was A Lonley Man - Philly Devotions
    13. Fancy Meeting You Here Baby - Lenny Welch
    14. I'm Ready To Give Up My Love - Final Touch
    15. Day After Day [[Night After Night) - The Reflections
    16. Don't Push Me Down - Finishing Touch
    17. All You Ever Wanted To Know About Love - The Tymes

Some other artists I can add [[I should to edit the initial post with the list) is Connie Stevens produced by Thom Bell and also Linda Creed [[I think she recorded some 45 at Stan Wayson's Philly Groove under the guidance of Thom Bell, ?)...

Seeing my copy of "The Sound Of Philadelphia" book by Tonny Cummings that I purchase by second-hand via Amazon some years ago, I found some other outside produced artists as Prince Johnny Robinson, Gerri G ranger, Willie Wooten,...

I recommend a blog by a friend of mine from valencia [[I'm from Tarragona), a true Philly Soul Lover [[he is a real collector, I'm not):

    https://saleelsoul.wordpress.com/
You can check the threads under the tag "TSOP"... a lot of threads about very rare Philly tracks!

Finally, I don't have some thing by the 100% of the artists listed here,... around a 60% I have one album, the rest I don't have nothing or only one, two or three tracks.

Manny, you duh man! That list is staggering. I was trying to imagine wading through all that material and passed out. Even so I'll bet there is a ton of good stuff waiting to be found [[again).

Yeah, dear friend Mr_june, is not gold all that glitter [[as says the Spinner's track!), but I'm sure that almost the 75% is high voltage soulful symphonic gems! I can say that about the ones I knows. Take for example a very very rare instrumental track as "Strange" by Tradewinds... is a killer one in the mould of of MFSB [[here is Norman Harri's unique guitar thumb!)... I figure the rest can be also "killers" or simply decent stuff.

I can add Flashlight at the list and a female vocalist called [[Ann?) Holmes on Philly Groove.

Thanks to Sansradio, that's one down. Didn't have any idea of the scope of material done outside of TSOP by Philly folks. That's another reason for another book and a good documentary on TSOP. Anyone know if the book by Gamble & Huff ever came out?

[[Ue)Gene Dozier was a member of the G & H team in 1969/70 [[Vibrations, Sweet Inspirations, Wilson Pickett, Bunny Sigler) after having ealier worked on Swan, Junior, Cameo & Gamble Records projects. Between those 2 stints he worked on Motown tracks in Detroit and also some LA projects [[Frankie Karl & Dreams, etc.).
