    "In Your Face Motown" playlist

I am going to compile a playlist of typical hard hitting 60s Motown songs along the lines of Road Runner, Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart, Something About You etc.

I would welcome your suggestions for the playlist please.

    Thanks.

Those Motown Disco Classics albums did that pretty well, dont you think.

    I'll add
    Lonely Lonely Girl Am I
    Bird In The Hand
These Things Will Keep Me Loving You
    He Was Really Saying Something
    Needle In A Haystack

I consider these all fall in your category..and I know you have them!

Have you played your Brenda Holloway CD yet. I was kind of expecting you to choose one from that album. I'll Be Alright has to be one.

That CD has some really excellent tracks on it. Reese made me go back to that CD and I am so glad he did.

One of the hardest hitting 60s Motown songs in my opinion was Gladys Knight & The Pips "Friendship Train" from 1969!

From that heavy intro to the final strains, that record was a killer!

I see several suggestions I definitely wouldn't call "In-Your-Face-Motown" or "typical hard hitting 60s Motown songs", they're not 'rousers' like the initial poster intended: My Guy, How Sweet It Is, Remember Me [[= 70's), I Want You Back [[= bubblegum), Some Things You Never Get Used To, Don't leave me this way [[= 70's), You're The One,

Here are some of my suggestions:

Isley Brothers - Got to Have You Back
Vevelettes - Bird In The Hand [[Is Worth Two In The Bush) - because of the unique intro [[thank you, Norman)!
Kim Weston - I'm Still Loving You
Gladys Knight & The Pips - It's All Over But The Shouting [[maybe)

One that I have not seen mentioned yet is Bless You. To me it fits the category, as do a great many Martha songs. For example, how about Your Love Makes it All Worthwhile from the same album?

And here is a wild one for this discussion that I just heard today in a Northern Soul collection that I have. How about the Originals' "Goodnight Irene?" You gotta admit that they were not noted for their uptempo material, but that one rocked!
