Marvelettes - TAMLA 54077 - Locking Up My Heart

One thing that has always intrigued me about the Marvelettes single, Tamla 54077 is this. Locking Up My Heart was actually the "A" side and the flip Forever was actually the "B" side.

Back in the mid-1960's, a radio station in York, PA [[adjacent to Harrisburg) had a Rock 180 Club. I still have some of their 8-1/2 x 11 top survey sheets in my collection. Well, FOREVER was the #1 song for literally months. I do not recall hearing them play Locking Up My Heart.

I regard FOREVER as my all time favorite Marvelettes song. Am I alone in my thinking? I hope not. I could listen to that song for hours upon hours.

Don't think so. Deliver the Singles booklet only indicates Wanda Young.

Both got airplay in Chicago and L.A. It was a 2-sided hit.

I thought about the situation. The reference was to Forever. I did some further research and Locking Up My Heart had both Gladys and Wanda working together.

Locking Up My Heart is that JAM. Gladys & Wanda get down on this. One of the best pre-Smokey joints they did.

Early Motown! A perfect single! Marvelettes was blowing and The Funks were killin' it!
