This is so sad. A smart, classy lady, indeed. RIP Ms. Ifill

She was the absolute best! I could be flipping through channels, catch a glimpse of her on PBS and put the remote down! I will miss her very much.

I watched her often in the evenings and I too will miss her. It's funny, that whenever I saw her on PBS, in the back of my mind I'm thinking how she stands out a lot of the time by just being a black person. I never knew anything about her. My co-worker just told me that she does a lot of works with Ms. Ifills' cousin, Sheryl Lynn Ifill.

She seemed like a genuine person and very professional journalist. My wife watches PBS News Hour and I'm pretty sure Ms. Ifill is [[was) one of the reasons why. This is quite sad.

Sorry to hear this. She was way too young. Ms. Ifill was a terrific journalist, and one of the few TV news reporters who was pleasant, and very "real" [[no egotistical act), and one of the few who really knew what she was talking about [[not just reading).

Robb, did you hear that Peter Mansbridge is retiring from the National this coming year?

And I echo des' echo...She was a gem. Not too many like her followed. I've hoping someone
of her caliber would show up but...let's just say I'm still waiting...
