Anyone surprised? I'm looking for a written version 'cause listening to him is like fingernails on a chalk board for me. What I'm really interested in is the reaction from his base.

He's also talking about compromising on the Affordable Healthcare Act as oppose to a total gut although, neither provision he's willing to keep will help many of us and Ryan is talking about privatizing Medicare... so much for my positive mood.

I can't speak for others but without the AHCA I will not have coverage. My part-time gig and SS can't take a hit like this. Thought I would coast for another year before the switch over to Medicare but if they ram either one of these through in the first 100 days , I'm screwed.

Back in June I had the honor and pleasure of attending the ICE Fundraiser Gala at the Mayflower hotel in D.C. [[fancy smancy) and sitting at the head table with the mucky mucks.

The director made it a point in public and private that two things were not going to happen. He said there will no open borders and no wall after the election. Several other management types expressed the same sentiment. As they put it...."we know what we're doing and we do it as only we can."

On a side note, my granddaughter sang the anthem at this affair. Later in the program they asked her if she could sing Amazing Grace as they showed a montage of names of all of the employees who lost their lives performing their duties for ICE. When the lights came back on, nearly everyone was wiping away tears.

I may not agree with all of their policies and procedures but I have a newfound respect for this group and what they do after that affair. Their latest efforts are not focused on immigrants but on stopping human trafficking.

As for AHCA and Medicare, Medicare has the AARP lobby and there will be congressmen and governors who will have to answer to certain policy changes in 2 years.

    Keep hope alive.

A couple of months ago, I was driving to another city, looking for something to listen to and somehow came across Glenn Beck's show. As you may know, Glenn hates Trump, and thinks he is evil. It just so happened that he opened the lines to Trump supporters, wanting to get a grasp on what they liked him. he got a very disturbing call from a white nationalist who stated in no uncertain terms that if Trump won and didn't follow through on his promises that they were coming after him. Beck was really shaken by that because the caller sounded so evil.

If that is true, Trump should worry.

He may worry a bit, but don't forget Donald Trump is a born and bred New Yorker [[just with a silver spoon in his mouth).....he doesn't scare easy. You can threaten him, but he'll be right back. You have to remember, this man has been in the real estate and construction industry in New York for decades. He's also been in the casino industry now for decades. Do you know the type of people that you have to deal with in that business? LOL!!!! They would make any white nationalist look like a sissy. hehehehehehehe.......

I'm not a Trump supporter in any way. I've met him once very briefly, but I do know that he is one cookie that does not crumble easily.

There's now talk that after they get what they want from der Fuhrer, the Republicans are ready to impeach him if he proves to be too unsteady. Little consolation with Pence as his VP.

I read something similar. Apparently they know they can't control Trump but can control Pence. Considering his atrocious record in Indiana, it annoyed the hell out of me that HRC didn't pounce more on him. I realize it wouldn't have matter to their cult members but damn...Pence is even more dangerous than his boss.

She left so much low hanging fruit on the vine. I have no doubt I would have had a better strategy than she did. No mention of the Central Park Five or that hateful bastard's role in locking up innocent kids or his calling for their execution? Or his tweeting they still belonged behind bars, even after they were exonerated? How about his statement in the first GOP debate that Americans earn too much for the country to compete? That flies in the face of what he promised his sheep. And she thought that sexism was a better card to play than racism. Maybe it was, but she played defense too much when he had more questions to answer.

When she back peddled on the deplorable comment, I wanted to scream and don't even get me started on her shying away from racism.

It boggles my mind that so many Whites don't understand their voices have to be as loud [[if not more so) than Blacks.

Then again...maybe I'm not as astonished as I pretend to be. shrugs

I have that same belief. When the police shootings occur I feel everyone should be outraged.

I was amazed that Hillary did not use the Central Park Jogger case in her campaign, but then again she characterized young black men as "super predators" and that they need to be made to heel....like dogs.

Apparently I missed the "made to heel like dogs thing" but I believe the super predator remark may have been taken out of context. Be that as it may, it certainly resonated in a negative way among Blacks.

Where in this did she reference Black kids? I get tired of people manipulating the context of things to fit their agendas.

"But we also have to have an organized effort against gangs," Hillary Clinton said in a C-SPAN video clip. "Just as in a previous generation we had an organized effort against the mob. We need to take these people on. They are often connected to big drug cartels, they are not just gangs of kids anymore. They are often the kinds of kids that are called superpredators — no conscience, no empathy. We can talk about why they ended up that way, but first, we have to bring them to heel."

Don't know if that was directed at me or Marv and sometime my snark misses the mark but I stand by my comment. Especially since I fact checked the super predator remark at poltifact months ago.

Here's the excerpt from that speech:

Marv, that short clip doesn't contradict politifacts ruling but here is where I will give HRC, you and others who jumped on her remarks a pass.

Based solely on her words and her words alone, she never called Black kids super predators. Although words have meaning, so does the intent behind those words and, I don't know what was in her heart or mind when she said it.

I do know, she's smart BUT not the most artful speaker on the planet. That speech was made during the time when I first started to dislike her, not because of that remark but because the way she turned a phrase didn't always hit me the right way. [[hence, the pass for your POV) The same happened on several occasions when she was campaigning against [[then Senator) Obama. Her husband often had/has the same problem.

I can list a lot of reasons for not liking HRC but this statement isn't one of them.

LOL. You guys are not the only "people" in the world. I don't take shots at people on this board unless they take shots at me. Especially people that I like. It was not intended to single either of you out, just to point out how noise tends to disrupt communication. The controversy over this remark is like somebody saying that someone's mom jeans are on fire and instead of paying attention to the problem, the person gets mad because they don't think that they are wearing mom jeans.

I copy and pasted my quote from Politifact, by the way. I guess we make our own context. [[Note: That was also not a shot at you or Marv!)
