Thread: Yo... Moe

  1. #3951
Oh, by the way......Ms M: we would've gone through a whole jar of olives on this game!! LOL

  2. #3952
Moe, the Dolphins played their heart out. Teams are going into these games underestimating their opponent and getting smacked up side the head.
Ask me how I know? LOL

  3. #3953
    Put olives on list....check.

Obviously I'm picking my Boyz over the Dirty Birds but does anyone think the Niners can win over the Rams?

  9. #3959
Not me. I'm watching the replay of the Jerry's Dolphins over the Ratbirds.

And I just saw Justin Tucker miss that Field Goal!!!!!!!!

  10. #3960
Me either Moe. The Ram's have something to prove and the Niners suck. LOL
    Ravens fell apart...crap happens!

  11. #3961
You know what's interesting, McVay and Harbaugh lose and say [[and I'm kinda paraprahasing) this is on me, Shanahan says, the plays were great but weren't executed... he throws his players under the bus. He MAY be a genius OC but IMO sucks as a coach. There is more to coaching than X's and O's...AND I really don't like how he is bringing all these vets [[that suck) on one year deals and letting rookies sit.

  12. #3962
I remember Mike Tomlin saying after [what I believe to be ] the Bengals game "it's on me." Period, no other excuse. No coach should do what Shanahan does. Because a team's performance starts & ends with their coach. I'll bet a few of those 49'ers aren't happy playing for him.

  13. #3963
John Gruden files a lawsuit against Goddell & the NFL. It accuses both of seeking to "destroy the career & reputation" of Gruden through a "malicious & orchestrated campaign." Thoughts???

  14. #3964
The rumor mill says Snyder set him up, which very well could be true BUT... Gruden put himself in a situation to be set up!

  15. #3965
Interesting. I want to see if Gruden claims the emails are fake or whether they were real and released to make him look bad. Because if it's option #2, he can't prevail because you can't prevail in court by admitting you're a snake but nobody but your buddies knows about it. He's also going to have to come up with a good reason why they turned on him. Hopefully, all of the **** will hit the fan and he'll take Stern down with him along with Roger the Dodger.

IMO, the lawsuit was inevitable because Gruden is the poster child for how white [male] privilege works in America and for him to lose his golden ticket is too much for him to bear. Let's hope he takes them all down with him.

  16. #3966
When the crap hit the fan, he owned up to the emails and apologized for them. That would make it option #2.

I'm having a difficult time... strike that, I don't give a flying fig leaf about Gruden and his so call problems.

  17. #3967
Didn't mean to post that twice. My bad.

  18. #3968
IMO........The NFL, especially Roger Doger & Company has much to lose if Gruden pursues this. He may uncover a can of worms with a domino effect on a lot of people. And, Gruden has a tremendous ego! The NFL may try & settle this before they let that happen.

What I would really like to see? Gruden take all of them down with him!!!

  19. #3969
How many of you expressed shock and awe over these emails? I didn't.

I love football but to be honest I contribute very, very, very, little financially to the sport. About five or six years ago I bought a Cowboys hat [[on sale) and the rest of my gear have been gifts.

If folks go down or not, as long as I can watch a game I'm good... and even doing the off season I can watch full games on youtube.

These are not first world problems these folk are dealing with so whatever happens to them or not...BS will continue and the cynical side of me says it always will. Take out of that whatever you will. shrugs!

  20. #3970
Just a fyi, I don't hold the NFLPA in high esteem either!

  21. #3971
I agree, Ms M. The NFLPA has caved in too many times to the owners.

    Saints vs Titans – Titans

My cousin dropped the following video on my Facebook timeline a couple of weeks ago. I told him it was timely because, for some reason, "It's Alright" had been playing on loop in my head for two days straight. Curtis Mayfield is probably the most underrated soul artist IMO. Not because he was the greatest singer, but because his music was his own. As a producer/artist/singer/writer, he was unique the way Al Green and Jackie Wilson were as singers. Nobody has been able to copy either of them because nobody expressed music the way they did because nobody felt it the way they felt it. If you get a chance, check the video out. It's pretty good.

  24. #3974
    Oops, sorry Moe.
Lion vs Steelers - no brainer. Terrible Towels

Back in the day, I didn't know who Johnny Pate was but always knew the Impressions when they came on the radio. Great video. Still watching but really enjoying it. Thanks Jerry. Love the title, lyrical prophet!

  26. #3976
It's interesting but I heard all these songs on the Black radio stations down south. Never knew other stations had problems playing them.

  27. #3977
This is really taking me back to my pre-teen and teens years. WLLE [[we called it Willie) was the only radio station I listened to. By the time WSHA [[Shaw) came on the scene I had gone out into the bigger world. LOL.

Just discovered WLLE is an internet station now, at least it was when this article was written. Will definitely check it out. Sweet Bob was the dude back in the day. LOL

  28. #3978
This is blowing my mind. I just took it for granted everyone was listening to these songs back in the day.

I didn't always appreciate Raleigh as kid but now I can truly appreciate the sense of community we had!

  29. #3979
Jerry Oz, this is more than pretty good, it's outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brother Mayfield is taking me to church. "Right on Mayfield."

  30. #3980
Johnny Pate makes an excellent point about Curtis rapping on Pusher Man. Never thought about it like that but now listening to it, he's right.

  31. #3981
The music of the Impressions and Curtis Mayfield seeped into my soul [[found a home) and made a powerful impact that I'm just now recognizing.

Thanks again Jerry. This was so right on time for me!!!

  32. #3982
Went over and beyond football but I started this thread so oh well....we're still on a music site.

  33. #3983
Sticking with music [[at least until Sunday) LOL, this is the second video I've seen that I've really enjoyed since my return.

The Allan Slutsky video was also good and reminded me how I became hooked on SDF. Contrary to the now posted date, I joined SDF before the "purge" Mo knows what I'm talking about in 2005. This place was the place to be for soul and not only because of the songs and entertainers but the heavy hitters who would post here, musicians, writers, producers, engineers, publicist ....I mean these people were the best in their field and I loved it. Reading Ralph's comment about the hum on the Band of Gold track took me back to that time.

The gossip was sometimes cute [[sometimes not so much) but it was the inner workings of how the music was created, how the business of music was done, that really did it for me.

Things change and I get that and I don't want to sound like "one of those people' but... shrugs!

  34. #3984
...and to be honest, I got carried away and political at times and probably contributed to the change in vibe [[although I wasn't alone but I'm owning up to my stuff) but always felt comfortable going back to the music. This isn't a rant or anything just me reminiscing about the good ole days. Okay some of those days sucked but even when they sucked they were hilarious as hell. LOL

Okee dokee, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It's you and me tomorrow Jerry Oz. You probably will not post during the meat and potatoes but best believe, I'll be around when you Dirty Birds are cooked. Don't take it personally. A very wise man once told me, "it's just a game." teehee

  36. #3986
Okay folks, make your predictions, if you haven't already done so.

    Saints vs Titans
    Bills vs Jets

HAHAHAHAHAHA Jerry Oz I just read something you said about the neon green in the Seahawks uniforms made you long for black and white tv. Thay made me laugh out loud.

It took me more than a minute to get use to it but it grew on me, and now I like it.

Still can't stand those Tony the Tiger helmets and thank goodness T&T retired those ridiculous bubble bee uniforms.

I'm also going to let you in on a little secret, our white jerseys with the turquoise pants are dumb imo but I love the navy. Don't believe in curses!

  38. #3988
I'm glad color rush uniforms are no longer being forced on viewers. I think the NFL caught flak from disability activists when color blinded viewers were turning games on and couldn't tell which team was which. Just another money-grubbing ploy by the NFL.

Anyway, I've got some family business tomorrow that's going to make me miss the game [which is the only Falcons game being broadcast on air here this season]. Hopefully I'll get home and hear some good news [although I'm not rightly expecting to]. If I log in and come here to see a long stream of Cowboys memes, I'll know that we were roasted.

Uh-oh... Looks like Big Ben is out tomorrow [and possibly next week] due to a positive COVID diagnosis. Somebody got their mojo working in Baltimore after the Ravens lost and tried to curse Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger out vs. Detroit Lions after being placed on reserve/COVID-19 list

    7:58 PM ET

    • Brooke PryorESPN Staff Writer

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list and will miss Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, the team announced Saturday night.
With Roethlisberger out, backup Mason Rudolph is expected to get his first start of the 2021 season.

Roethlisberger recently said during an interview on "The Dan Patrick Show" that he is vaccinated, meaning it is possible he could return for next Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Steelers did not specify whether Roethlisberger tested positive for the virus or was a close contact of someone who was infected, but according to the league's COVID-19 protocols for this year, vaccinated players are not required to quarantine if they are a close contact. A vaccinated player who tests positive must have two negative tests at least 24 hours apart and remain asymptomatic in order to return.
    Big [[Ben) Loss

Over the past three seasons, the Steelers are 17-8 [[.680) when Ben Roethlisberger starts and 8-7 [[.533) when he doesn't. Pittsburgh averages 4.6 fewer points without him and has relied less on the passing game.
    W/BIG BEN WITHOUT
    W-L 17-8 8-7
    PPG 23.4 18.8
    Yards PG 324.9 283.5
    Pass pct 66% 60%
    -- 9 starts by M. Rudolph, 6 by D. Hodges
Rudolph last saw game action in Week 17 of the 2020 season. He also started eight games during the 2019 season after Roethlisberger's season-ending elbow injury. In his career, Rudolph has thrown 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He has been sacked 16 times.
Roethlisberger took fewer reps than usual this week, not practicing Wednesday or Thursday after Monday night's win over the Chicago Bears, meaning Rudolph got extra work ahead of the unexpected start Sunday.
With Roethlisberger out, former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in the offseason, will be active for the first time this season.
Roethlisberger is the first Steelers player to be put on the COVID-19 list this season. A year ago, Roethlisberger landed on the list as a close contact of tight end Vance McDonald, who tested positive, but the quarterback didn't miss a game.
The line for Sunday's game moved from Pittsburgh -8 to -6.5 at Caesars Sportsbook with the news that Roethlisberger was ruled out.

Hate to be all insensitive and stuff but colors are all around us. Although not easy, as a rule, I'm guessing color blind people learn to adapt and adjust. There was a lady I knew that was 100% legally blind. However after her husband died she managed to live to a ripe old age and moved around in the world just fine.

"Colour blind people face many difficulties in everyday life which normally sighted people just aren't aware of. Problems can arise in even the simplest of activities including choosing and preparing food, gardening, sport, driving a car and selecting which clothes to wear."

So do they give vegetables flack, car company's etc. I'm really not trying to be an ick but come on Jerry Oz, I can call out the NFL for a lot of things but color rush jersey's....really?

    Going back to bed. Later!
