Goodness sakes... We finished that game with only two cornerbacks. And next week, we have the Vikings. Julio is the first receiver with three 250 yard games and he also has more catches in his first 90 games than any receiver in history. Love this dude.

My niece is a Skins fan. From her Facebook page, it's pretty clear she didn't see last night's game resulting in an "L" for Washington. The Cowboys may not have Zeke, but they still have the line that can open holes for the other backs and they should have been focusing on them the past few weeks. Dak is more like Russell Wilson than he is like Drew Brees, so having him wing it every other play doesn't help him to succeed, in my opinion. Very interested to see how they play next week.

Defense FINALLY did what they were suppose to do but I will admit Dak was more consistent last season. I'm guessing that had to do with him being comfortable with Zeke on the field but a win is a win.

I'm a lot more comfortable with next week's game since Sean Lee should be back in but ....just walked in the door and turned on the Birds game....how the heck did he miss that FG?

I didn't get a chance to watch the game last night but after reading about it this morning, I'm glad I didn't.

To quote one of the reports I read, "It was the kind of game that made loving football difficult."

    The latest.
Ryan Shazier injury update: Steelers LB's injury had teammate 'scared of football'; Mike Tomlin on 'a tough evening'
Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has movement in his lower extremities, NFL Media reported Tuesday morning, but coach Mike Tomlin said he had no update on his player's "medical status" in a news conference later in the day, leaving that to the Steelers' medical team and doctors in Cincinnati, where Shazier was hospitalized overnight.

In the team's initial medical update after Shazier's scary first-quarter back injury, GM Kevin Colbert said early Tuesday morning that Shazier "continues to improve."

Tomlin, who left Paul Brown Stadium immediately after Monday's game to be with Shazier, in his first remarks Tuesday thanked Cincinnati police, paramedics and medical personnel, then added that Shazier is receiving "expert medical care."

"From my perspective, it was a tough evening. Ryan is a trouper. He's a tough guy. … It was painful to get on that plane last night [[to return to Pittsburgh)," Tomlin said. "But, y'know, that's life. We understand that he's in really good hands."

The team was told Shazier has a spinal contusion with some swelling involved. They won't know more until the swelling goes down, likely over the next 24-48 hours, but it is encouraging news for Shazier.

One teammate admitted Shazier's injury shook him.

“This was one of the first times ever, in my entire life of playing football, where I felt scared of football,” guard Ramon Foster said Tuesday on Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan. “That wasn’t normal. I’ve seen a lot of catastrophic stuff, but never anybody take a hit like that.”

Foster says he was able to keep playing by keeping in mind, as Tomlin said, Shazier was in good hands.

“You try to zone in away from it,” Foster said. “You know that he’s going to have some of the best doctors and staff around him and that’s what you hope on right there. You’ve got to be a little thick-minded in a sense knowing that, ‘Hey, I’ve still got a job and a game to play.'”

Shazier underwent a CT scan and MRI exam at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center to evaluate the injury, Colbert said in a statement tweeted by the team at 1:23 a.m. ET.

“Ryan’s injury will not require surgery at this time, and he continues to improve,” Colbert said via Twitter early Tuesday. “He will stay overnight to continue evaluations with the hopes of returning to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. We will provide further updates at the appropriate time.”

Shazier was placed on a backboard and carted off the field at Paul Brown Stadium early in the first quarter of Monday's game.

Teammates, fellow NFL players and others around the league offered their heartfelt encouragement immediately following the game and into Tuesday.

Noting that "the game of football challenges you in many ways," Tomlin said Tuesday that Shazier "has challenged us to move on and get done what we've got to get done."

The Steelers play again Sunday night, when they face the Ravens, who tweeted their support for Shazier.

The Steelers' leading tackler, Shazier lowered his head to stop Bengals receiver Josh Malone less than four minutes into Monday's game. Shazier, in his fourth year from Ohio State, had his hands over his head when carted off the field. Steelers linebacker Vince Williams was in tears kneeling next to Shazier as trainers tended to him.

Shazier was moving his arms and hands, but there was initial concern because of minimal movement in his legs.

After a brief evaluation in the locker room, Shazier was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Tomlin said after Pittsburgh's 23-20 comeback victory only that Shazier, 25, was "receiving the necessary medical attention."

NFL Media reported Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert took a police escort to the hospital.

According to multiple reports, the Steelers flew Shazier's parents to Cincinnati on a private jet so they could be with their son at the hospital.

    And also:

FORMER OHIO STATE LINEBACKER RYAN SHAZIER NOT EXPECTED TO NEED SURGERY AFTER SUFFERING BACK INJURY ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Former Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier is not expected to need surgery after being carted off the field after suffering a back injury during the Pittsburgh Steelers' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement early Tuesday morning that Shazier's "injury will not require surgery at this time, and he continues to improve."

Shazier will remain at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center overnight for further evaluation, but is hopeful to return to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

According to reports by NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, Shazier's injury was described postgame as a spinal contusion, but his Steelers teammates are encouraged about his prognosis, with the belief that Shazier will be able to make a full recovery.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted Tuesday morning that Shazier has "some movement in his lower extremities after last night's back injury, but the next 24-48 hours are key for increased improvement."

There still remains enough reason for concern that Shazier's father, Vernon, and many of his Steelers teammates, including fellow former Buckeye defender Cameron Heyward, took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to ask for prayers for Shazier.

Shazier suffered the injury during the first quarter of Monday night's game, when Shazier immediately fell to the ground and reached for his lower back after attempting to make a tackle on Bengals receiver Josh Malone.

The latest on Shazier [[as of 3:45pm) states he's still in UC Medical Center, has undergone several tests, and "will continue to be monitored
& treated by neurosurgery at UC until he is clear to return."

I didn't see that this happened, Homeboy. If it makes you feel better, Philly gave up over 45 points in three different quarters so far this season, including 48 points in a game with Golden State. That's on pace for a 192 point game.

Oh. It goes back for decades between the Bungles and Pittsburgh. And Burfict's dirty hit on AB in the playoffs three years ago just took it to another level. Curiously, Burfict has hardly garnered a mention in today's sports news and he was also knocked out of the game.

Speaking of which, watch somebody pronounce that Gronk is not a dirty player soon, in spite of his vicious attack on Tre'Davious White. In my opinion, that shot proved that he as dirty as hell and he should be out as many games as White misses due to his concussion.

You're right, this crap has been going on forever but fans, coaches and officials trying to make it normal is BS.

I love football, but turning a blind eye in the name of.... it's always been like that or that's just the way the game is...it's BS.

Taking a knee is NOT what's going to bring this game to an end but pretending the dirty hits and DELIBERATE violence will.

I'm not ready to give up watching the game but I'm not going to sit around trying to justify this behavior and tell myself this s$#t is right either.

I'm out. I have a meeting on Sunday so I'll be late to the party but at some point, I'll be around....LATER!

Sister, I've felt this way for years. Hearing guys on the radio bemoan the rules changes because they're "taking the fun out of the game" turns my stomach. If I had strength in my convictions, I'd have stopped watching the first time I saw a DB try to take a receiver's head off and then join with other players in a prayer circle, ostensibly hoping that the limp body on the field will be okay. Always have hated the hypocrisy of it. I've been soured on that aspect of the game since Darryl Stingley was crippled by Jack Tatum and I was in junior high when that happened. Also, Tatum and George Atkinson used to do their best to kill players and were treated like they were superstars.

The only reason the league started putting player safety rules into effect is to keep the government out of its business. Do you remember Anquan Boldin having his jaw broken on that vicious hit by two New York Jets players about seven or eight seasons ago? God forbid OSHA should be looking at workplace safety when the job, in the minds of many, was to hurt the opponent. The changes started before the discovery of CTE, by the way. I won't lie. My reduced fandom was made possible by the fact that I have been ashamed to be a fan for years.

Ryan Shazier has always been a good guy. Living in central Ohio, I recall him from the time he was a freshman and he's been as remarkable off the field as he is on it. I heard a local radio host mention how Shazier was one of those special young men who looked forward to hospital visits and working with community charities because it was his pleasure to be in that position. I'm praying for his swift and complete return to health. In case you missed it, here's the article he wrote regarding his having to deal with Alopecia for most of his life.

I was just about to post that, moe.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2...unced-thursday
Steelers' Ryan Shazier has spinal stabilization surgery

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery after sustaining a severe back injury against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
The Steelers announced the surgery, which was performed Wednesday by team physicians David Okonkwo and Joseph Maroon, who has long been with the team and developed the ImPACT concussion testing program that the NFL has adopted.

The team offered no further updates on the matter.
Spinal stabilization surgery is done with the intent to stabilize the spine when there is some evidence of instability there, according to ESPN injury analyst, Stephania Bell. The procedure involves the insertion of some internal fixation, using hardware, to stabilize a segment of the spine, which presumably gives a person the best opportunity to allow the neurological recovery to continue.

On Wednesday, Shazier was transported from University of Cincinnati Medical Center to a UPMC hospital in the greater Pittsburgh area. Shazier, who was injured in the first quarter of the game, spent two nights while undergoing medical tests. Shazier was strapped to a board for stabilization and carted off the field, eliciting emotion from teammates who care about their playmaker and popular locker room figure.

The atmosphere in the Steelers' locker room has been a combination of optimism and concern, with details on Shazier's overall progress scarce. Shazier has been in contact with select players, including safety Mike Mitchell and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Shazier's father, Vernon, his fiancée and other family members have used social media to promote the hashtags #prayfor50 and #shalieve. Shazier himself used Twitter to thank fans for their support. "Your support is uplifting to me and my family," he said.
The injury has affected the NFL beyond Pittsburgh. The Baltimore Ravens, this week's opponent, held a team prayer for the fourth-year linebacker.

"This is real life. That's something that obviously bears remembering," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said.

I have personally worked with Dr Maroon in the past. He is an excellent surgeon. What a long road ahead for Ryan Shazier.

Wow. Nobody is even asking if he'll be able to return to field yet. I've heard of athletes forced to retire after spinal fusion surgery. I feel bad to even wonder about it, myself because he has bigger things to worry about.

I'm starting to breathe again. Deion Jones is starting to look like he did last year. Sure with Matt Ryan would.

I missed the entire first half and although Jai called it a JV game, I'm going to be presumptuous and call it multiple touchdowns and a win!!

    Well played Boyz!!
