BTW: How interesting is it that Jalen Hurts is playing in his second Super Bowl in his first five seasons? And he was a second round pick for the Iggles.

I have no love for Philly, but I'm a fan for exactly two weeks.

I'm glad to hear he's looking good. I pray for his complete healing. I really want the Eagles to win, but I'm probably only checking in on the game from time to time. I'm bummed out on the NFL right now and since I don't have a dog in the fight, I'm not as interested as I might otherwise be.

I missed it all. But, they could have had Duke Ellington playing at halftime and there would have been just as many people complaining about it as are griping about yesterday's show. There's no accounting for taste.

Just making a point, Ralph. Art is a subjective medium and there's no accounting for taste. I would have had the same reaction to a death metal band playing that I had to Kendrick Lamar, but that doesn't invalidate the millions of fans who would have been glued to the screen to see their favorite artist playing their favorite songs. Doesn't make me right or them wrong to have different opinions.

But seeing as you know that pushing a fader up on channel #4 [out of 48 channels] up by 2 dBs can make a mid song a hit, you know this as well as anybody on this forum.

Ralph: There was a lot of political subtext shot through that performance, visually and lyrically, that I'm sure you'd appreciate. It was a huge middle finger to 45-47 and everything he stands for. The American flag rent in two made up of Black bodies, for instance, hit me right in the gut, given the state of things in the U.S. right now. For my money, it was a masterstroke. Kendrick’s brand of hip hop sets him apart because it’s not about partying and frivolous stuff, but interior struggles and social problems. The beats are secondary. The secret is in the lyrics, which admittedly are very rapid-fire and hard to absorb at first listen, but are subtly coded and razor-sharp. And the whole PlayStation/Squid Games/Game Over motif, as regards the state of the country, was chef’s kiss—especially in front of the Occupant-in-Chief.

Interesting start of the season. Steelers get DK Metcalf [ok, but who's the QB??], Josh Allen & Myles Garrett get freakish contracts. Who else is getting what?

Rumors are that Fields wants to come back to Pittsburgh, but the Jests are willing to outbid them for him to play in New York. Some are also suggesting the Steelers are going to now unload George Pickens but I'm intrigued by a WR duo of Metcalf and Pickens to keep the tough defenses of the AFC North honest in how they scheme for Pittsburgh.

Now I read the Steelers may make a play for Darnold. I read Steelers & Fields are too far apart in $$$. We'll find out Wednesday.

And Steelers lost their broadcaster......Craig Wolfley dead at 66 [too young].

There are so many moves & it even isn't the official start of free agency yet!! With Fields gone, who is left? Rogers [oh brother], still Russell Wilson [smh]? This is all crazy!

Rumors suggest Rodgers is at the top of the Steelers' wish list. Of course, he's being aloof as ever for attention before making a decision.

I don't know, Jerry. He's a real drama queen. Pics of him on the beach walking makes me want to gag. The Steelers signed Mason Rudolph [as a backup, no doubt......unless there's no other option & then he's the starter]. My fan guess is that no one in the 'Burgh will be happy if that occurs. I really think he'll go elsewhere. He needs to know he is waaay past his sell buy date but his ego always gets in the way. My neighbors, also from Pittsburgh, laughed when I said that the Steelers should tank the season & next year get Arch Manning. How are your teams doing in free agency? I haven't looked.

His ego makes him an odd choice to lead the Steelers. His age suggests he's a bridge QB until they develop a starter, but who will that guy be? They won't get a good QB in this year's draft and next year, A-A-Ron will be a year older and a year more arrogant. They should trade a fourth round pick to Atlanta and ask the Falcons to pick up half of the remaining value on Kirk Cousins' contract. They'd do it and Cousins would bring none of the nonsense that Rodgers thrives on.

Falcons and Dolphins are both having low-key free agencies. The grade will be in after the draft for how well they did. Atlanta mostly resigned some of their guys and brought in Leonard Floyd, who I think will help but they're supposedly going to spend most of their draft picks on defensive guys, which I approve. Dolphins brought in a couple of guards [including former Steeler James Daniels], which was their biggest area of need, but they need to replace most of their secondary and also get some solid competition for Jaelen Phillips and Bradley Chubb, each of whom spent much of the past two seasons rehabilitating from serious injuries. Also signed Zach Wilson to back Tua up, which is very interesting. Their offseason grade really depends on the draft because they have more obvious needs at key positions than the Falcons do.
