Thread: Yo... Moe

  1. #6901
    Good Morning Peeps,
Had a really long day yesterday and didn't see any games. However congrats to Moe and Ralph and unfortunately not a good day for Jerry. Sorry about that.

    Where the heck is Jai?????????

  2. #6902
Morning Ms M, I wish I knew where he is........

  3. #6903
Yeah, I do too. The Commanders are finally a good team and the NBA starts tomorrow with the Wizards expected to finally be competitive. Hope he's alright to enjoy it.

  4. #6904
Deebo Samuel couldn't play Sunday.....no wonder. He has pneumonia & fluid in his lungs.
It's like join the "out" club. Deebo, McCaffrey, Aiyuk. What a sad state for them.

Godwin's injury from last night's game....did you see that? Yikes.

I loved Aaron Rogers getting picked off twice by Beanie Bishop, Jr. So now that Rogers has his bestie on the team does that mean that Williams will leave?

  5. #6905
Tampa took a huge hit, losing both Evans and Godwin. They're both having career seasons. Hopefully, their backups don't play well against Atlanta on Sunday. Tua's likely to play on Sunday, so to quote you: Yikes.

He gave a very intense press conference the other day where he essentially told the reporters that he was aware of the risk he's taking and he's tired of being presented as a fool for doing the one thing he loves in life [short of family], even if it kills him. I hope he feels that way at the end of the season.

  6. #6906
I hope for you, too, Jerry. Because of it Baker may be off his game a bit. Good luck.

    Your last sentence.......truth!!

  7. #6907
    Lions are fleecing Tennessee.

  8. #6908
Tua played very well today, but Miami's defense fell short for the second time and we lost as the clock wound down. The season's slipping away. There are reports now that Tua was symptom free two days after his concussion and could have returned 3-4 weeks ago, but the team didn't want the smoke that it got two seasons ago from his concussion. I have zero doubts, we'd probably be 4-3 instead of 2-5 right now. Perhaps even 5-2.

Atlanta had a good game with Tampa Baker and now, we are a full game up in the division and hold the tie-breaker over the Bucs. Things are shaping up well if we can just avoid making a lot of the mistakes that made today's ame close.

The Browns looked like a different team with alleged sexual predator Jameis Winston playing instead of alleged sexual predator DeShaun Watson today. Different energy and they man-handled Baltimore, which is clearly one of the best teams in the league. Wow.

  9. #6909
My understanding is the Browns always look like a first rate team when they play the Ravens. And, that came from a Ravens fan. LOL

    Hello err body.

Congrats and a half to you Jerry Oz. Whatever happens tonight, we'll see your Birds next week.

  10. #6910
    Yippee.

  11. #6911

Morning all, yes the Browns woke up [they usually do when playing the Ravens]. Congrats to you, Jerry....Falcons over TB. Sorry about the Dolphins. And Ms M, sorry about your Boyz. And the Lions are still looking like Super Bowl material.

    And the Steelers are tonight.

  18. #6918
    Morning Everyone.

Thanks Moe, as I said last night, disappointed but not mad. There were a few entertaining moments but oh well. Looking forward to playing the Falcons. Hi Jerry Oz.

Good luck tonight Moe, I'll be tuning in!

  19. #6919
I didn't realize we were playing the Boyz until I saw your post. The last time we played y'all, my team didn't know what an onside kick was and we blew a fourth quarter lead. Let's hope nothing so stoopid happens on Sunday.

Unless it's your team that chooses to do it.

  20. #6920
I'm hoping we make much better choices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love me some Cindy Blackman Santana. You go gurl!

First Steelers game I've watched with Russ. This should be interesting.

  21. #6921
It was interesting enough for me, Ms M........haha.

About time Calvin Austin broke loose.

And now we go into the bye.

  22. #6922
A day late and a dollar short but congrats Moe. It was a really good game!

  23. #6923
Yes, it was, Ms M. Beanie Bishop got himself another pic.....love that!!

But how bout the trade that send Panther Diontae Johnson to the Ravens? And we still have to play them twice. I hope he still suffers from dropping the ball disease like he did in Pittsburgh. Oh wait....how's his attitude? Will he be a team player? Only time will tell.

  24. #6924
Just walked in the door. Let's Go Boyz!!!!!

  25. #6925
Frustrations for the Cowboys. Guess what dude, frustrations for the Cowboys fans!!!!!!!

  26. #6926
I like Trey, I really do, but please, please, please, D, keep Coop healthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. #6927
Close but no cigar. Congrats Jerry Oz. Great game!

  28. #6928
I just walked in. Congrats Jerry, sorry Ms M. And I think I need to also say sorry Jerry. The Bills beat the Dolphins. Only came home for the Detroit/GB game.

  29. #6929
Happy and sad. Again. I think Miami and Dallas are having the same season up to this point. I was having a flashback to when Dallas needed an onside kick to win in Atlanta about 5-6 years ago and Falcons players stood around as the ball slowly crawled 10 yards as if they thought it was a squirrel that ran on the field. Dallas recovered it and it'll live in the minds of Falcons fans forever [spoiler alert: we lost that game]. It was the exact same scenario today, but thankfully we remembered the rules of onside kicks before Falcons Nation suffered a massive stroke.

  30. #6930
Ralph, the game [Lions/Packers] was a good one. Lions showed what they're made of. I still think they're the team to beat......& could beat KC. But, I don't understand why 32 {Branch, I think] was ejected. The call was "unsportsmanlike conduct" but exactly what did he do to warrant an ejection?

  31. #6931
Moe, Branch made an unnecessary tackle with a head butt. I was a little surprised about the ejection. I've seen worse.

  32. #6932
This post doesn't have a damn thing to do with football.

It's all over but the shouting.

Take care peeps. Good Bye and Good Luck. I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. #6933
    Awww Ms M:[[

I laid out my opinion on the Wisdom Of Pooh thread. I can't add more to it without being banned from the site, so I'll just try to focus on whatever comes next.

  35. #6935
Wow. It looks like the Boyz might be putting Dak on injured reserve, where he'll have to stay for at least four weeks. He couldn't return until at least week 14.

I read it, and literally stood up from my computer and gave you a standing ovation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. #6937
    In reference to Dak.

    Life sucks!...Shrugs

Nothing personal towards him but I just don't care.

I'm tired. I'm really, really tired!

I came to SDF in 2005. The date in my profile is incorrect because of some tech issues but 2005 is when I started posting. Initially it was great fun and cool peeps. Also, lots of musical knowledge that was worthwhile in numerous ways. A few years go by and things started to get wonky, until Jai brought the elephants in which was cool but wonky just the same. I miss you Jai wherever you are!!!!!

Eventually, a major split among posters occurred and the SDF that I first knew and loved, was never the same. There were still a few good times but not like when I first started.

Over time, I switched from music to more social issues. It almost got me banned because I called someone a racist. Something I still believe with all my heart and sorry Ralph, do whatever you feel you need to do for my saying so.

During President Obama's first campaign I became super political on SDF and after that, it was the Arab Spring. Then I decided to chill for awhile and only came back here and there to post.

Fast forward a few years later and shortly before starting this thread in 2016, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. After walking around with a heart monitor for 3 months my cardiologist was finally convinced my heart wasn't going to suddenly stop beating. So, I decided to come back to this community and share my passion for football and my Boyz. Life at SDF was fun again and every now and then, something new in music was posted. However, I eventually lost interest in the music side and stayed with the sports.

Then another health issue popped up. Blood clots in both legs and COVID. Health wise I'm hanging in but financially not so much. I manage for now but I'm not optimistic that we are not going to hell in a handbasket or that my life will eventually get better. So be it music, sports or whatever. I don't give a flying fig tree about anything right now and don't see that changing.

I'm tired. I'm tired of bullsht. I'm tired of platitudes and rah rah everything will get better speeches. I'm tired of people telling me everything is going to be okay because it's NOT...at least not for me and many people I know. If I could, I would get the hell out of dodge so fast your head would spend. But where? This election is going to change not just this country but eventually the world. Drama queen? Maybe, but it's what I believe.

I'm not giving up on living, it's not my style but Life...meeh. It's over! It wasn't perfect but it was enjoyable for the most part. Now, not at all. Whatever happens will happen but I'm too old and too tired to give a sht anymore!

I may pop in one day again but don't be alarmed if I don't. I'll live until I die and then the wind will take me away. And that my peeps, is life!!!!!!!!!!!

    STAY SAFE!!!!!!!

  39. #6939
God bless you. We'll get through it, but I'm so tired of hearing people complain and then decide that the person throwing out a lifeline isn't in the boat they wanted, so they'll just stay in the water with the sharks. And I'm tired of feeling like the chum that's used to draw the sharks. If my country doesn't want me, am I to be blamed for wanting to return the sentiment? SMH.

Anyway, back to Dallas, it appears that Dak's hammy was partially ripped from the bone. Ouch. I'm not a fan of Dak, but I hate it when players sustain injuries and I hope he comes back strong.

BTW: Had he played out this season without a contract extension, he would have lost at least $100 million, so I'm glad he got the bag. Tua, too.

  40. #6940
And the Steelers finally get a WR.....so many predicted it would be Williams & it became a reality after Rogers got Adams. And an edge rusher from the Packers. Most of their players who were on the injured list are coming back [Frazier, Patterson, etc]. They're gonna need them because Washington is a very improved team.

Bengals/Ravens tonight? Might be a good one.

  41. #6941
Those refs in the game last night need new sets of eyes!!

  42. #6942
Ms, M, I am so sorry to learn of your health issues. At age 82 I deal with some myself. I have a hard time walking without a cane and will probably be going to an assisted living situation soon
As far as the forum. I realize things are different now than before. Probably a major reason is so many members have died the last several years, so we lost a lot of input from those that we once followed. I guess we can't do a thing about that. I do miss the humor that we once had. We had some very clever members that contributed to that end. Also the ERRGH times that were always fun to read.
The reality is Soulful Detroit is more successful than ever before. Daily we get applications for membership and have days we get 50,000 hits.
I realize you have been a long time member and will be missed if you choose to leave. I do hope your health issues improve. Aging is a bitch, for sure, but I do hope you will reconsider leaving. 2005 to 2024 is a good ride. Please continue.

Ralph, your last post brought me some joy in a relatively joyless week. I'm one of the late comers and SDF is one of the sites that I always make a point to visit several times each day. The Word Association thread is my safe haven and keeps me from pulling my hair out. That, and the Wordle thread, which is the first thing I do after logging in each day. Several of the more outspoken members that greeted me when I joined have either stopped posting or passed away and that's too bad. I can't lie and say that I'm not extremely worried about Jai in particular and I pray that he is well.

Thank God, the bitter personal attacks are fewer than they used to be. I saw wonderful threads be derailed in a heartbeat when posters would trigger others with personal attacks. Remember when all that it took was to say something bad about DRATS for there to be days of nasty fighting? Yeah, definitely don't miss that. Thanks for keeping this place grounded and a civil place for discourse. We need you and you've never come up short.

  44. #6944
Thanks for the kind words, Jerry. You may be a late comer but you seemed to have become a name that influences me to see what is going on. Much appreciated.

  45. #6945
Sorry about The Falcons loss, Jerry. And the Dolphins play tonight,
Ralph, another victory for the Lions...over the Texans no less.
Ms M, sorry about your Boyz....that Dak injury is a HUGE loss.

And then there is the Steelers, on a 32 yd pass to Mike Williams, who was only traded to the Steelers this week. But coming up is the Ravens in Pittsburgh.

  46. #6946
Moe, Goff got picked 5 times but the Lions finally lit up to tie the game with mere seconds left in the game. A last ditch field goal attempt that barely made it through and the game was won by the Lions. Wheeeeeee!!!

  47. #6947
I just want to know who will defeat the Chiefs? Almost did yesterday. Your team can do it.

  48. #6948
Appreciate the kind words Ralph but I never said I was leaving. However I did say, I may pop in one day again but don't be alarmed if I don't.

On a football tip, for the first time in I don't know when, I DID NOT watch the end of a Boyz game. We suck right now. Oh well, so does life. shrugs

  49. #6949
    Thank you Ms. M.

  50. #6950
The Lions can do it Moe and they will.
