Thread: Yo... Moe

That Ravens/Bengals was a wild one, too.

As I've stated earlier, Dak pissed me off last night...heck they all pissed me off up until the win. LOL

The only person I wasn't upset with was McCarthy [he deserved the game ball] and Martin. When Zack went down it scared the heck out of me. Fortunately it was only cramps.

I will give Dak props in the way he handled the CD dust up though. His character was truly on display in that situation. Or did I miss something that you saw Jerry Oz?
I just saw Lamb yelling at him while he was looking away. Cris Collinsworth just said "I'll let you read his lips for what you think he's saying".

  3. #6853
I saw that but Dak ignored him walked over to the bench, sat down and picked up his tablet. He didn't bother to engage. At least I never saw him respond. Anyhoo, on with the show.

  4. #6854
Yup. That's history and all that matters is the next game.

  5. #6855
Big article this morning in the Pittsburgh Paper about the behavior of George Pickens. Why is it we get these talented receivers who have immature attitudes? It'll be interesting to hear what Tomlin says in his press conference today.

  6. #6856
Pittsburgh has been great at developing wide receivers and generally avoiding knuckleheads in the locker room. With that being said, the handful of knuckleheads do tend to be wide receivers. I don't count LeVeon Bell as a knucklehead, he just bet on himdself and came up short, but Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Chase Claypool, and now George Pickens?

It's no wonder that Tomlins shaved his head since he was pulling his hair all out anyway.

  7. #6857
I watched Tomlin's press conference. Yes, there were questions about Pickens. At times I don't think Tomlin answered their questions. Side stepped them.

I am submitting another Steelers [initially] WR for Honorable Mention: JuJu Smith Schuster

  8. #6858
I was trying to remember JuJu in my post. Thanks for bringing him up. The thing that they need to consider before showing their butts is that none of them has had the level of success after leaving Pittsburgh. Yeah, they're talented but if history is any indicator, the reason why they play well is because of the team, not the other way around.

  9. #6859
The Jets coach flew away. Who does Rogers want now?

  10. #6860
I'm guessing he'll hold interviews and choose the guy with the lips that kiss his butt to the most satisfaction.

    outstanding answer, jerry!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. #6862
Wow. I just saw the eye black message that Pickens had on his face on Sunday night. What a child.

  13. #6863
Yep. Pittsburgh can pick 'em but they don't grow up.

  14. #6864
What's stupid is that he's killing any potential interest other teams might have in him. AB was tracking as a hall of fame player but rewarded the Raiders, Pats, and Bucs by having such a negative impact off the field, they regretted putting him on the field. If I was a GM, there's no way that I'd trade for Pickens or sign him in free agency. Now I know why they're rumored to be interested in DeVante Adams, whose top two choices [New Orleans and the Jets] just lost its QB [Saints] and coach [New York]. He might wind up staying in Las Vegas for the rest of the season.

  15. #6865
On any given day there is always a rumor with the Steelers. The latest is about Davante Adams. I thought he wanted to rejoin with Rogers.

  16. #6866
Riddle me this, the Jets are 2nd in the league in defense which is Robert Saleh's area of expertise. The Jets owner gives control of the offense [which is ranked 27th in the league] to Rodgers. But Saleh is the one who is fired. Next you'll be telling me the sky is green and grass is blue. Lawd love a duck!!!!!!!!

  17. #6867
Saleh really got fired because he wore a Lebanese flag pin to a practice last week and team owner Woody Johnson is rabidly pro-Israel. Saleh is a first generation American born of Lebanese immigrant parents and thousands of Lebanese citizens who had diddly squat to do with Hezbollah were murdered in Israel's "targeted" strikes against the terror organization in Beirut.

Don't get me wrong: He hasn't proven to be a good coach, but losing in the Sunday morning game was the cover that Johnson needed to get rid of him.

  18. #6868
Well damn! I could say more, a lot more but I started this thread to get away from politics.

  19. #6869
Life is political. I saw where the commissioners of MLB, NWSL, NFL, and NBA plan to run anti-hate commercials this weekend and even though it can't hurt, I noticed that the NHL commissioner was conspicuously absent. He probably realized that his fans would be frothing if he suggested that the Others that tRump has been marginalizing are actually living and breathing human beings.

But yeah, sports is escapism and better when the ills of society gets left in the parking lot.

  20. #6870
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.

Politics [depending on polls or tea leaves], is somewhere between 45-50 percent delusional, rancid, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, ignorant, narcissistic, noxious, etc. etc. etc.

    And the band played on!
    Temptations

So, I’ll do my civic duty and, I'll stick to my escapism.

  21. #6871
Wow, was hoping the Seahawks would pull this one out. shrugs

    Good Night!

  22. #6872
Get away from politics. Ms M? If only!!!! It slaps you in the face at every turn lately.

Let's see......your Boyz are playing the Lions..that should be a good game. Red hot Washington [where are you, R&B?] is at the Ravens. Jerry, Miami is on a bye but Atlanta plays Carolina. Steelers are in Vegas. Is Russell Wilson ever gonna play?

  23. #6873
    Good Morning Moe.

Let me amend my statement. I started this thread to get away from being consumed by politics. Hope that clears up any confusion.

Now, in escapism news, believe it or not, I'm more concerned about playing a home game than I am about the team we're playing. LOL I think the Ravens and Commanders will be a good one and the Dirty Birds, will prevail! I thought I read Russ was playing this week? Guess I imagined it. Whoever the QB, I'll be pulling for ya.

  24. #6874
    Morning Ms M,

Yes, you're right; Russ has been in FULL practice mode this whole week. George Pickens has shown us [in interviews] how immature he is, & still a lot of banged up Steelers players. I think your game will be a good one. I'll be traveling but will catch the games.

Ms M, I'm all for escapism.......especially if a night includes a few of those olives you picked up at the grocery store just in case a friend cries on your shoulder [or is pissed to no end] when her team loses.......haha.

  25. #6875
Time for a little baseball, chuckle heads. Detroit and Cleveland.

  26. #6876
Haven't watched baseball since Deion Sanders was playing for the Braves.

But tomorrow at 4:00, it's going to be on like popcorn, See ya at the STAR Mr. T.

  27. #6877
After years of breaking my heart, the Mets have been playing great baseball for a couple of months. Clawed all the way into the playoffs and knocked off division-winning Brewers and Dodgers and now, have to face the division-winning Dodgers. I'm almost afraid to watch or I feel like I'm going to jinx them.

I'll probably watch that game over the Bengals and Giants, though.

  28. #6878
So Cleveland beat Detroit & advance to play the Yankees? Sorry Ralph

The Penn State/USC game was good.....Penn State in OT.

Hoping Ohio State/Oregon game is good.

  29. #6879
oh well....It was a great run for the Tigers. Looking forward to next season. BUT FIRST! My Lions play today.

  30. #6880

Steelers win! Too many penalties at first.

  32. #6882
Only have three nice things to say tonight.
    Congrats Moe.
    Congrats Jerry Oz.
    Congrats Ralph.

  33. #6883
Tough break, Ms. M. I'd put Mike McCarthy's chance to return next season below 5% right now. Atlanta had a tougher than expected game against Carolina but managed a stout effort in the fourth quarter. Lions are looking like the best team in football. Congrats, Ralph & Moe. Thank goodness Miami has an early season bye or I'd probably have something to complain about.

Not sure if I'm watching the Mets or one of the worst Sunday Night Football matches ever [on paper, at least].

  34. #6884
    Congrats Jerry.
Congrats, Ralph….the Lions do look like a force to be reckoned with!
Aww, sorry Ms M, but I agree with you….McCarthy won’t be back.
And the Lions play the Vikings next week? That oughta be a good one.

  35. #6885
    Good Morning,

Not sure if you guys saw the game but that train wreck can't be placed all on McCarthy. The entire thing was a hot mess from ALL [on our side] who participated!!!!

AND...giving props where props are due, the Lions played their arse off!!!

  36. #6886
    Morning Ms M,
I saw some of the game after the Steelers. But I feel sorry for Aiden Hutchinson….fractured tibia? He’ll be out for a while.:[[

  37. #6887
A huge loss for the Lions, Moe. I loved watching the guy sack QBs. The rest of the line-up is strong, so the team will get through it. They showed that the way they finished the game.

    Morning all,

    Another weekend. Some good games....KC/SF, Det/Minn. Jerry, Mia/Ind, Atl/Sea.
Ms M, you're on a bye. Steelers/Jets, with a question as to who is going to be the QB for
Steelers. Should be a good weekend. Let's hope for some good games!!

  39. #6889
It should be an exciting week. Miami has me on pins and needles hoping that Tyler Huntley has gotten a better grasp of the offense after the bye week. Atlanta and Seattle is always a good game, IMO. I wonder who picked the Patriots and Jaguars to be the London game this week? That's a sure fire way to get church attendance up.

  40. #6890
No kidding, Jerry!!! The group that I know that tailgate the Steelers games all want to go to London but the NFL has saw fit to deny us the chance. Oh well.

What's the deal with the Jags? Are they dying a slow death or what?

  41. #6891
Beats me. They were flying high at the end of 2022 but crashed and burned in the second half of last season. And now, they can't get out of their own way. And lucky you that Pittsburgh won't be overseas, Moe. The first year that the league went to 17 games, Atlanta had 8 home games and one was in London, so whereas everybody else had at least 8 [actual] home games, the Falcons were stuck with 7. It probably wasn't that big a deal since a huge number of Falcons fans seem to be very eager to sell their tickets to opposing fans, anyway.

  42. #6892
To me personally, that IS a big deal because of the fans. They miss out!! I feel your pain.

Because of a slip of his tongue, George Pickens announced Russell Wilson as the starter. At least that's what I'm reading. I'm sure Mikey T had some words for him. We shall see.

  43. #6893
The college games were really good yesterday!! Tennessee beat Alabama & Georgia beat Texas. That might leave Oregon at the top spot because they are undefeated. But there is Miami, too.

And so here we go today..........

Yeah, Moe. A lot of people got upset over conference realignment but last week we had Ohio State vs Oregon and yesterday, we got Texas vs Georgia. What's not to like about that? I'm all for having the best teams playing other great programs. I'm nervous about this afternoon's games. I need Atlanta to keep their momentum against the Seahawks and Miami needs to play better to beat the Colts. I'll be on pins and needles until around 4:00 PM...

  45. #6895
Deshaun Watson out with a non contact Achilles?

  46. #6896
Yep. Watched the game with my mother [who is a Browns fan] and had the displeasure of witnessing another horrible Browns game in addition to switching over and torturing myself by watching both Atlanta AND Miami lay gigantic eggs. I'm avoiding the football message boards this week. At least the NBA begins on Tuesday so I'll have some possibility of having a team win before next Sunday.

By the way, my brother finally took my advice and drove to Pittsburgh to watch the game tonight. He's been here for three years and even though he traveled all over the country to watch them before he moved, this is the first time he's attending now that he's *checking notes* 2 hours from Pittsburgh, 1.5 hours from Cincinatti, 2 hours from Cleveland, 4 hours from Indianapolis, 4 hours from Detroit, and 6 hours from Chicago. All of which is to say, he could make a weekend trip by car to at least 10 Steelers game per year. Heck, if he wanted, he could make day trips to all of those cities.

He wanted to fly, but was told he would have a two-hour layover, so he drove. Can you imagine how hard I would have clowned on him if he took a four hour flight to travel 130 miles? Fortunately, he didn't give me that opportunity.

Anyways, you know I'm rooting for your team to embarrass A-A-Ron and the Jests tonight.

  47. #6897
I'm happy to hear that you talked some sense into your brother. Hope he brings home a winner for us tonight!!

Ralph, your Lions [I think] are the team to beat....a great game....Congrats!!

A double loss for you, Jerry.......yikes!

The 49ers lose to KC with no McCaffrey, Debo, Aiyuk [injured in game]. I have to wonder if Brock Purdy is as good as his rookie year. Thoughts?

    And......Here We Go!!!!!!

  48. #6898
And there Aaron Rogers went.......haha. That man is out of excuses!

Jerry, I'll bet your brother had a good time!!

  49. #6899
Thanks Moe. Close game for sure.

  50. #6900
Ralph, one of the best games of the weekend for sure!!! Your team doesn't play them again until [I think] the last game.....in Detroit. Should be a good one for sure!!
They have what it takes to go the distance.
