Last summer, I had the privilege of attending a two-week Videographic Criticism workshop, sponsored by the National Endowment of the Humanities. Beforehand, we were asked to bring a film that we knew very well, so I brought Mahogany with me. The goal of the workshop was to do academic criticism using audiovisual material, rather than just writing about it. I’m happy to say that my final project was picked to be published in the latest issue of the academic journal [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film & Moving Image Studies. If you are interested in the academic “explanation” of the video, as well as the published peer reviews, check out the journal: http://mediacommons.futureofthebook..../12/29/success
