fun what if - Supremes Guest Stars

although appearances and tv spots for the girls definitely decreased as the 70s went on, they did still appear quite a bit. but it seems like they were mostly on Mike Douglas, Dinah Shore, Merv Griffin. weren't those daytime shows? can't remember lol. but teens and young adults typically don't watch those so the girls' exposure to this key audience was very limited. yes they did Soul Train and Bandstand too. but wouldn't it have been fun if they did this!!! lol

Cute idea; unfortunately "Love Boat" didn't premier until May, 1977. The Supremes disbanded just a short month later.

Being based in the UK I didn't see the majority of their 70's TV appearances until the youtube era. I was surprised by just how often they appeared on US TV, but as their popularity diminished they seemed to get "relegated" to afternoon shows. It was a similar story across the pond. In the early 70's whenever they toured over here they appeared on high profile weekend variety shows, but after Jean left it was usually afternoon shows where Mary, Scherrie, Cindy and later Susaye where they appeared.
Such a great shame how this great group became neglected. Over in the UK they were also affected by the Three Degrees rise in popularity who eventually scored more UK chart hits than the 70's Supremes.

It's too bad the Supremes couldn't get the role of "The Wilson Sisters" instead of the Pointer Sisters, in "Car Wash".
