    Wblk 93.7 fm - buffalo wblk 93.7 fm - buffalo december 13, 1971

I thought I knew more about sixties soul than any other era but I'm familiar with most of this funky forty. Ray Charles and Rufus Thomas started recording in the 40s/50s and still popular in the R&B charts of 1971. Then again there are names her not even known to me never mind forgotten.

I'm still playing Family Affair, Rock Steady, Where did our love go amongst others on this list.

Well .. I reckon I have about 20 of those on 45 and most of the remainder on L.Ps or C.D. reissues, but there are a few which were a complete mystery to me .. BRENDA GEORGE, LUCKY PETERSON, RON DOUGLAS, THE GENIES, RHYTHM REBELLION ..

    So I thought I'd visit YouTube ..

BRENDA GEORGE seems to have been a very Bluesy/Southern-Soul singer but I can't find "Not Trying",

LUCKY PETERSON seems to have been another Blues singer but I can't find "Our Future".

There was a Doo-Wop group in the 50s called THE GENIES, whether they are the same group as THE GENIES in this survey I wouldn't know ..

RON DOUGLAS I just couldn't find at all.

However I did find "Spellbinder" - RHYTHM REBELLION ..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1Xk8IkvwNs

There are a few red-herrings in there too ..

"Everybody Knows About" by L JOHNNY TAYLOR has to be "Everybody Knows About My Good Thing" by LITTLE JOHNNY TAYLOR.
"Ain't Understanding" by "Jerry and Brenda" would have to be "Ain't Understanding Mellow" by JERRY BUTLER AND BRENDA LEE EAGER.

And here is one where the group name was familiar but not the song, seems it was the official "B" side .. PONDEROSA TWINS + 1 .. "Bound"

Lucky Peterson was notable for being a bandleader...at the tender age of 13! That got him on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

    Best,
