Can anyone shed some light on this "Motown promo"? It was sold on E-bay for over £200 recently, but I for one have never ever heard of this in some 50 odd years of collecting Motown!

I've never seen it. It has "special release" where the record number would go. It has 3 "songs", or at least 3 tracks. It looks like it cane from 1964 or 1963. I wonder who Miss Motown is [[winner of a contest?)

Robb, have you ever heard of a Jack Gibson, who gets a credit on the label?

Track 1 - "About the weather"
Track 2 - "About the record & the DJ"
Track 3 - "Greetings and nonsense"

    it is copyright 1964

Could Miss Motown have been Jack's daughter, Jill Gibson [[Bell)?

Jack Gibson was a big time record promoter. I don't know if he worked exclusively for Motown.

I don't think there can be any snippets of songs on the disc as there is no publisher on the label.

There is - or was- a Miss Motown Pageant. Maybe this was some kind of cross promotion

It appears that the Miss Motown Pageant was first held in 2010

Going by the titles I reckon it is a spoken word promotional disc.

How much would anyone hear pay for a spoken word promotional disc? I'd pay a tenner for the one above.
