    Indeed, Moe.

We spend so much of our lives going around in circles, that the thought of simply reversing the process can begin to seem very attractive....

WGB, I don't know how productive going in reverse circles would be but I do think reverse osmosis works well. Roberta Flack sings a song about it, "Go Up Osmosis".

It is 144man, but I also like to wear my birthday suit on my 364 un-birthday's [[365 on leap years) as well.

It's pointless to point it out but I can't make as a good point as I could when I was younger. Time takes a toll on your point. I hear there are drugs now that can assist you in making a better point. Didn't someone say "you don't have to have a point to have a point!" I think it was Nilsson. Well Nilsson Schmilsson give me that rubber so I can erase the point on my head an concentrate on my other point. Get the point? Oblio!

Peggy Lee was wonderful singer and a talented song writer. She also did some acting, most notably in the "The Jazz Singer" [[1952), "Lady And The Tramp" [[1955) [[voice, songwriter) and "Pete Kelly's Blues" [[1955), for which she received a much deserved Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

However when she passed in 2002 [[at age 81) The Academy did not include her in the annual in memoriam tribute, stating Lee was omitted because her contribution to film and her legacy were not deemed significant enough. And this was the same year Aaliyah, who only had one film was included. Lee's supporters asked that Peggy be included the following year and the Academy refused.

The "the not deemed significant enough" statement was also used when the Academy refused to include Farrah Fawcett in the 2009 in memoriam. Sad.

Does the Academy have a website dedicated to artists in the industry, who are known to have passed, which would give in-depth recognition to their work?

The inference that artists like Peggy Lee and Farrah Fawcett are considered 'lightweight' by the Academy, and not to be afforded a tribute, is indeed a lofty, clumsy slight on that artist's work, and also on their fans who felt such artists had very great popular appeal.

There must be many artists and people within the industry who are honoured by the Academy, but who mean little, even nothing to many of those who actually support the industry with attendance at cinemas, buying dvds and soundtracks, etc.

I must look out for 'Extremities'....as it clearly made its mark with you both, S_Soul and Moe.

I see that Farrah received a Golden Globe nomination for 'Extremities', so clearly some people, somewhere, felt her performance was notable.

Yes, you would think that everyone who ever received a nomination, even if they didn't win, would be automatically included in an 'in memoriam' tribute, following their death. In Farrah's case, she passed away much too early. Perhaps the Golden Globes have a similar 'in memoriam' tribute, and Farrah was included?

It should certainly have been automatic for Peggy Lee to have received a tribute on her death, since she was an award nominee from the Academy itself...

“Extremities” is a very intense movie dealing with rape, and was very controversial for it's time. The role is both physically and emotionally demanding. Doing the show night after night when it was an off Broadway play must have been brutal. But Fawcett was bound and determined to shake her dumb blonde image and be accepted as a serious actress. In my humble opinion, I think she succeeded admirably.

    Farrah Trivia:

I have seen this posted on a number of different sites, this quote is from Wiki:

"The song "Midnight Train to Georgia" was inspired by Fawcett and Lee Majors.[84] Songwriter Jim Weatherly phoned Majors, who was a friend, and the call was answered by Fawcett. Weatherly and Fawcett chatted briefly and she told him she was going to visit her mother and was taking "the midnight plane to Houston". Although Majors and Fawcett were both successful by that time, Weatherly used them as "characters"[85] in his song, about a failed actress who leaves Los Angeles and is followed by her boyfriend who can’t live without her. Eventually the genders were swapped to a failed actor who leaves Los Angeles and is followed by his girlfriend who can't live without him, a train replaced the plane, and Houston was changed to Georgia. The recording by Gladys Knight & the Pips attained the number 1 position on the Billboard chart in 1973.[86]

JFK and Bob Hope: JFK was often the target of Hope's good natured ribbing. One of my favorites was 'President Kennedy is going to divide the state of Massachusetts in two, High Mass and Low Mass'

I forgot that Bob Hope was born in the UK - and that he lived to be 100 years old!
