We all knew him as BOB Babbitt ,as his birth name was Robert not William. I've never heard of anyone calling him "Bill". Also, I thought his family name was spelled "Kreiner" with an "E", which matches the profession [[creaser- one of the words to express tailoring), at least it is spelled that way on all his record label credits I've seen).

Yes Robb, I must have been working far too quickly and didn't check.

That's a careless typo with his first name....which is, of course, Bob.

The spelling of his surname.....Wikipedia have it spelled as 'Kreinar' but, as it was Wikipedia, it seemed almost essential to check other references, including obituaries...and those I checked had it spelled the same way.

But, now you have mentioned it, I have checked 'Find A Grave'. There it is spelled 'Kreiner'...and, although I don't find 'Find A Grave' to be infallible, that's good enough for me.

Maybe all the other sources just copied Wikipedia.......now that would be no real surprise.....
