Thank you WestGrand. I really do appreciate coming here every year and being wished a Happy Birthday. Thank you my friend.

    Marv

  4. #4454
Marv, you are also most welcome here on every single one of your Un-Birthdays, LOL

You, and anyone else signed in at the time, are also welcome to post pics here of any Motown related people, on the occasion of their Birthday being remembered.

For example, today is Paul Riser's Birthday, if you can locate a pic.

But, again for example, it is also Estelle Axton's Birthday.

So, pics of notable non-Motown names from the general world of entertainment are also most welcome here, when remembering them on their Birthdays.

Time does not permit me to do all of this myself.......

    Quote for the Day:

"I knew Dale Warren from Cass and one day, right out of the blue, he called to tell me that there was a paid position playing trombone at Motown and that I should come down. I knew nothing about Motown. I hated R&B and most other forms of pop music, with the exception of some of the Atlantic stuff that I'd heard my brother and sister played, people like Ruth Brown and Ray Charles, but I reluctantly agreed." - Paul Riser, Soul Source Magazine, 2012.

Ok now that's a good idea. I will do that. Thanks WestGrand (is it ok I call you that?).

Sure Marv, it can be WestGrand, West or WGB.

When I registered as a member, it was the first name that came to mind.

I felt certain it would have been taken but, just while I was thinking of an alternative, I tried it.

I was absolutely astounded to find it was available.

Lowell said he could make it wstgrndblvrd, unless I wished to use the full name. I felt if I did use the full name, it could then be abbreviated in posts.

Of course, I'm acutely aware that really it's a bit of a nerve because, as you might remember, I'm actually based in the UK.

Which seems just about as appropriate as someone from the US using the name 'Abbey Road', 'Penny Lane' or even 'The Cavern Club' on a Beatles forum, based in Liverpool......

I thought about using the name "Philip Duke of Edinburgh" LOL!

  10. #4460
Ah, well it's probably for the best that you only thought about using that name LOL

For a start, it's not such an easy one to shorten, except perhaps to P.D.of E. Which would then make you sound like a Government department.

And had you decided on simply being known as Prince, we'd all be sat here reading your messages, thinking "But how can this be? He's been dead for over three years....??" LOL

  11. #4461
Hey west, you could've called yourself..east,but then we would've thought that you were the last member of the-eastside kids, hehehehehe!!!

Isn't it ironic that "that" "Prince" has been dead for over 3 years, but the other is dinosaur and does not look like he's going anywhere! LOL!

Happy Birthday: to everyone celebrating Birthdays on September 15th.

  24. #4474
    September 16th:

    Quote for the Day:

"I haven't had the chance to see it, but the fact that they saw fit to put up that statue is beyond my wildest dreams. Any time that people think enough of you to put up something that is everlasting is only going to make you feel good.

I think that other than Elvis, I am Memphis's favourite son - I'm pretty close to number two.

The thing about Elvis is that he is a lot more popular in death than he was when he was alive - but I would rather that they come while I'm here."

    - B. B. King, interview with The Guardian, 2001.
