Happy 90th Birthday, Dave Brubeck!

Dave Brubeck is 90 years old today! Celebrate this living legend of jazz with a listen to the all-time favorite from 1959, "Take Five," the only song in 5/4 time ever to make the Top 40:

The quartet is, of course, Gene Wright, Paul Desmond [[who wrote Take Five) and Joe Morello. I love the entire Time Out LP, especially "Blue Rondo a La Turk," which starts out in 9/8 [[!) time.

New documentary on Brubeck coming out, produced by Clint Eastwood. I love jazz and Brubeck is awesome. Any album of his is great. His bandmates are always top notch, too.
