Found this tonight on Spotify...seems to be a newish release [[2013 but sank without trace) produced by Hense Powell - on Youtube only 7 views.... kinda pitiful given the enormous contributions Johnny made as a statesman of soul for so many years

Johnny Bristol is definitely a Motowner. This must be a recording that was lying in the vaults somewhere. I now wonder how much unreleased material there is on him. Miss him.

Mike, Johnny was the most underrated of singers with a smooth, strong, clear baritone.

This was not a bad song/recording. There are just not any outlets today for the public to hear it on a large scale. Radio is dead to anyone over 30-35 years old.

Couldn't agree with you guys more. Johnny's albums are wonderful. I especially adore "do it to my mind" from the late 70's, and of course "hang on in there baby" is one of the all time great soul songs. He had it all. I remember meeting him at Wigan Pier Disco in the late 80's I think, and he was such a nice, humble guy. Thanks for posting Marv.

You guys are so right. I met Johnny Bristol during my Fall 1971 tour of Motown's Donovan Building. Johnny was in the middle of mixing the vocal version of Jr. Walker's "Way Back Home" for Jr.'s upcoming "Rainbow Funk" album, and yet he took the time to talk and visit with me. Hell of a nice guy, and like you all said, so very talented.
