    The "Shangri-Las".....

Came across this great clip about the Shangri-La's; I seem to recall Gladys Horton having this same issue.

I wonder what ever became of this suit?

Unlike many of the girl groups around at the time, the Shangri-Las looked like girls you didn't wanna F*CK with... especially with the leather get-ups... they made the previous "bad girls of rock" The Ronettes look like a group of several Mary Poppins.

The Mary Weiss website may have more information; Ms. Weiss had a lot of publicity when she released a solo CD in '07:

Unfortunately, they [[the original girls) settled. Dick Fox Entertainment had the fake group out there and I think he had copyrighted the name. The only stipulation the originals had was that the fakes could not claim to be the real deal. But they did! They settled to get a percentage of whatever the fakes were making on bookings, which wasn't very much to begin with. But the fakes did get a great gig at one time in Vegas with Joan Rivers.
