    Motown South

I just read an article that said Motown considered starting Motown South with producers Woodford and Ivey who recorded 5 tracks on Gwen Owens lead singer of the group HOT. Motown subsequently decided not to persue this. I've never heard about this before. Any info?

Well if they could have Weed and Gaiee labels then why not MoSouth or Mouth for short. And what about a Northern Soul label too [[though I'm not sure that would catch on)?

Good to know. I was always curious about Gwen's 1972 "Motown" recordings, never having heard them, nor saw them in The Motown Vaults. Now I know why - as they were recorded in Muscle Shoals, and not published by Jobete Music.
