    Ben E. King passed away...

I have no details, but learned from a facebook friend that Ben E. King has passed either late last night or early this morning.

Some sources say it is an internet hoax. Can anyone confirm?

People who do create such hoaxes really are sad as they have no life at all. I have not found any confirmation only that it was either very late last night or very early this morning.

Can't find anything on it either. Facebook can be the best or the worst place for news like this. Sometimes a friend of the recently deceased posts it before the news media gets it and sometimes it is just a hoax. Didn't Cosby die two or three times on Facebook?

I don't object to posting posts like this here, but if it is not confirmed, it should suggest that in the title of the post.

    Rather than
    Ben E. King passed away...

    Perhaps this:

Unconfirmed On Facebook That Ben E King Passed

I hope this is just a hoax. He has made some great music as a Drifter and as a soloist. I was just reading about him on Wikipedia. It says that he was performing as late as 2013. Wikipedia is asking for additional citations for an update. Perhaps someone in the know is trying to update it. Also I did not know that he resides just a few towns away from me

Thanks for the post and let's hope that it is not true.

They are saying the report from April 25th is a hoax.

Someone else is saying that Charlie Thomas called them yesterday to say Ben passed yesterday. This has NOT been confirmed to be true.

I did hear about 6 months ago that he was very ill.

BBC is now reporting his death and he is listed as deceased in Wikopedia, so I guess it is true

There were Drifters before and after Ben E King, but to me, he was the best. Two of my favorite Drifters songs were Save The Last Dance and There Goes My Baby.

And his solo hits gave me a lot of joy too.

    Thanks for the music.

He was a resident of Teaneck, NJ. The NJ media did an excellent story on his death as follows:

This is really sad! "Stand By Me" was just added to the U.S. Congress recording registry! I had no idea he was ill!

Ben E. has had many hits that will live on forever, but this, this song here is the one I will most remember him for. From 1963, "I Who Have Nothing"!

Very sad to hear of his passing, and just a few weeks after Percy Sledge.

I recently came across these late 60s Atco tracks by him, cut in Detroit, [[welll, the backing tracks at least), no doubt with some help by various members of the Funk Brothers!

    It's Amazing

    Cheers

I bought this on UK Atlantic...I think it was a flip side. Love that side. I can't even remember what the top side was now

No, John, It's Amazing was the A side. This was the flip, pictured from my dwindling 45s collection.
