    Rest In Peace Percy Sledge

Just heard this news from CNN,that he passed away at home in Baton Rouge, La. He lived in Ala. when I knew him in the 60's. What a real nice person he was.I think he is in his early 70's.

If he only recorded that one song, his place in popular music history would still be secured.

Same here. I can remember my father played it over and over when it came out in 1966.

Atlantic Records artist like Percy hold a special place in my heart. I'll just assume that he was one of the folks who came up in the church and then went secular. My favorite song by Percy is "Take Time To Know Her." He just sounds so sad when he sings that line "And there she was kissing on another man, now I know what mama meant when she took me by the hand." He had a feel for those types of songs. Good bye Mr. Sledge.

Hey TJ. You had Percy appear on many of your music specials. You did good dude. An entire new generation got to see him sing this classic ballad. Many thanks for that.
