    frank wilson/ supremes 70's producer

does anyone know why Frank Wilson stopped working with the Supremes? did he leave motown. i know he returned in 1973 to produce a few tracks for them but i thought it was a good marriage between artists and producer.

According to the liner notes for TCMS 11B, it was because "Touch" failed as a single - the group were transferred to Smokey for "Floy Joy". It's presented as a commercial decision on Motown's part rather than anything to do with Wilson personally.

He went on to write and produce for Eddie Kendricks.

FRANK WILSON has proven over the years to have been the BEST producer for the post Diana Ross Supremes. His work for both The Supremes and Eddie Kendricks is brilliant.
