Mary Wilson In Ralph Nader's Doo Wop Show In Tampa

Richard Nader’s Doo Wop Reunion XV returns to the Tampa Bay area Saturday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater.

Richard Nader’s Doo Wop Reunion XV will feature performances by Little Anthony, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, The Capris and Tommy Mara and The Crests.

Known for his high-pitched falsetto voice, Little Anthony exploded onto the music scene in 1958 with the hit single “Tears On My Pillow.” Other major hits include “I’m On the Outside [[Looking In),” “Take Me Back,” “Hurt So Bad” and “Goin’ Out Of My Head.” In 2009, Little Anthony was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Mary Wilson is best known as a founding member of the world’s most famous female trio, The Supremes. They recorded 12 No. 1 hits from 1964 to 1969 including “Baby Love,” “Stop In The Name Of Love,” “Come See About Me” and “Where Did Our Love Go.” In 1988, The Supremes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Teenagers from Queens, New York, formed the Capris in 1957. Their first single, “There’s A Moon Out Tonight,” was discovered by a radio DJ two years after it was recorded. That 1960 smash is more than just a doo-wop classic, it is one of the greatest love songs ever. Other hit songs include “Morse Code Of Love.”

With the blessing of original lead singer, Johnny Maestro, Tommy Mara took over the lead singing duties and today Tommy Mara and The Crests continue to wow audiences around the world performing many hit songs including “16 Candles,” which rose to No. 2 on the Billboard chart and sold more than one million copies.

Tickets start at $45. Call 791-7400 or visit www.rutheckerdhall.com.
