It doesn't state it in the description [[not that I could see anyway) but I'm assuming this will be a Region 1 package, meaning it will not be viewable in Europe as we are Region 2. You will either need a Region 1 player or have the ability to chip your DVD to make it playable.

I bought Lady Sings The Blues about a year ago but this was Region 1 only and I’ve still not been able to find a machine in my house that will play it, nor anyone that can convert it to Region 2.

    So let the buyer beware!

I believe that a blue ray player will do the trick or in New Zealand a Panasonic player will play all types. It might be the same in the UK.

Check the sellers profile. He or she received one negative rating, calling the Motown set a bootleg.

Your box set cover has a much deeper shade of blue for the M25 graphic.
The booklet page on the left appears to be identical to the one in the official Time-Life/Star Vista 6 cd set; the right page is identical to pages 4 & 5 of the smaller booklet included in the dvd case.
Your dvd case places the booklet behind the 2nd dvd; mine has it on the far left in a slot with 2 side prongs designed only to hold the booklet itself. There is no spindle on which to place a dvd here.
My case is designed with 4 faces [[outer front cover /inner front cover/inner back cover/outer back cover) and is not tri-fold as yours is. In the inside center spine there are 2 plastic prongs in which a holder for back to back discs 1 & 2 is pivoted into the slots allowing back & front movement.
The inside back cover is where disc holder 3 is held in my version.

I just noticed that your copy has the plastic prong pivot design, but I suspect that its back/reverse side [[the side facing the booklet) does not have a functionary spindle .

Alex, bootlegs oftentimes have inferior visual and sound quality. How do your DVD's look and sound? I know that, at this point, you have no way of comparing them with a truly legitimate set purchased from Star Vista, but does your copy seem to have high quality reproduction, or does the video footage look and sound questionable? - Gary

With the footage being over 30 years old how could I tell. It looks the same quality as my VHS.

Also the dvd info doesn't look right either... can you compare these to yours please?

I know it's too small to read, but the dates are different [[8/5/2014) on my copy.

I wonder if Time/Life will authenticate, since you didn't buy from them. That's too bad that you got ripped off; wasted money! So sorry to hear about your bootleg; I'm sure it cost a pretty penny!

I'm guessing as its a timelife star vista exclusive they'd wanna know... also for this seller to have sold 50 copies, means if they're legit he would have ordered them all from there..... it cost me $93 delivered.... so for a bootleg I've paid more or less the standard price.. they're selling them for $64.99... I guess that answers my question

Alex, the Motown 25 video footage may be more than 30 years old, but they remastered it beautifully. The accompanying interviews are all new. They should all look and sound clear and crisp. I'm afraid that's all I can tell you.

I was just given a full refund from the seller also stating there is no need to send the item back. He also wanted to know how I came to find out this isn't genuine so he could pass the info to his suppliers?!?!?

I purchased a Region 1 copy of Lady Sings The Blues and it will not play on any of my three Blu-Ray player or my PS3. In the UK, some old Video machines used to be multi-region but I don't think DVD's or Blu-Rays are.

Most [[but not all) blu-ray discs are sold region-free by the major film studios. But I guess Motown 25 is a Region 1 dvd.

I'm not advocating this, but in many cases one can make a dvd player region free just by typing in a code with the remote. There are many websites giving these codes. This website gives an explanation:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/dvd-unlock

But don't blame me if you try this and your player no longer works! ;-)

Some manufacturers make region-free players. I don't think there is any legal obligation to enforce the region codes of the film studios, but most do it to be on their good side.

Alternately, many specialist shops will turn off the region blocking if you ask them when you make a purchase. There are also such offers on Amazon from third party sellers [[not advocating this seller or model, it's just the first one that came up)
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/MULTIREGION-...blu+ray+player

Note that the seller writes: "Product Warranty: This product may have invalidated the manufacturer's warranty." That's because Sony enforces region coding but this seller has turned it off.

alexstassi, I was elated when you brought the Motown 25 6 DVD set offer on eBay for a great price to my attention and I ordered a copy. Then I was totally deflated when I read your post that it may be a knockoff. The boxset finally arrived today to me in Vancouver, Canada and I am totally thrilled with what I received!
