    Everything Other than........"The Big Chill"!

We all know that Motown music was used heavily for the soundtrack for early 80's hit film, "the Big Chill". What other films and television programs also used the music of Motown as a part of the soundtrack?

Stoned Love was used in 1994' "Forrest Gump".

China Beach's theme song was titled "Reflections" and was recorded by Diana Ross & The Supremes!

    Bridget Jones's Diary

Both "Stop, Look, Listen to your heart" and "Ain't no mountain" were used in the movie. However, the soundtrack only featured "Stop".

Jackie Brown I believe. Though has more non-Motown soul than Motown.

Really? I bought that soundtrack like the week it came out in 1980 and I did not remember Smokey & the Miracles being on it.

"Crooklyn" from 1994 had these Motown numbers:

    "ABC" The Jackson 5

"Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" Stevie Wonder

"Never Can Say Goodbye" The Jackson 5

"Tears of a Clown" Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

Sister Act had "Heatwave" performed by Whoopi, Sister Act 2 had the cast performing "Aint No Mountain" performing at the closing credits.

And let's not forget the several opening tunes for Murphy Brown. I believe the Temptations even where once in an episode.

Thinking of the Temptations, they where also on an episode of the Love Boat!

And actually, looking at the soundtrack there were no Motown songs used. But I just remember the one seen where Sam Jackson has some lady singing "Baby Love" for De Niro and giving him a lap dance. LOL

Yep Marv2 .. though it wasn't included on the Soundtrack L.P. .. here is the portion of the movie that contains the song, complete with Richard Gere's character singing along to it ...

Several Martin Scorcese movies. "Mean Streets" includes a fight sequence in a bar where "Please Mr. Postman" is playing on the juke box.

Plenty of chick flicks with a mom/child theme seem to have a Motown song featured in a montage where mom bonds with the kids by lipsynching into hairbrushes or blow dryers or brooms..it's become a rather hoary cliché.

Cooley High had a fabulous soundtrack. Not only did the Motown songs bring back memories, but also the story taking place in a Chicago high school in the mid '60s in a mixed Black and White neighbourhood.

I attended Bowen High near the boundary of South Chicago and The South Side. Where I lived was about half and half. Cooley was on The Near North Side, which was mostly Caucasian then, but it was a vocational high school, so students could come their from all over the city.

Boogie Nights used Machine Gun as well...

Young Adult used Diana's "When I Grow Up" as it's ending credit music...

The Sopranos used Touch Me In The Morning in the background of a scene where Tony checks into a hotel...

In Elizabethtown, I Can't Get Next To You by the Temps is Orlando Bloom's characters ringtone that keeps going off as he prepares to commit suicide....

Nowhere To Run is used in Good Morning Vietnam.....

There's a scene in Remember the Titans where the football players sing Ain't No Mountain High Enough together [[seems to be a common song to use):

The film, "Hitch" has from Motown:

I Can't Get Next To You
It's Easy To Fall In Love [[With A Guy Like You)
Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing [[performed by someone other than Stevie though)

    Then non-Motown:

    Love Train

"Up the Ladder to the Roof" was used in the film, "Made in Heaven" but performed by the Nylons.

It was also used in the TV Sitcom, "Living Single" and performed by Queen Latifah & cast.

The movie "Step Mom" features Marvin and Tammi's "Ain't No Mountian".

The TV show "Good Times" had an episode [[I think it was called "The Rent Party") where Michael sings "When You're Young and in Love" and Florida, Willona and Thelma sing "Stop! In the Name of Love."

Here's a few more on the Supremes:

Supremester - 'You beat me to the punch' with HEATWAVE from THE BOYS IN THE BAND [[1970).

But here's another one from the film that's a real surprise--at 2:37 on the timer:

When the film came out, it pleased me no end that it was included.

She also had Aretha Franklin on her show singing her fave tune "Natural Woman"......

There was a documentary about the New York Cosmos soccer team of the 1970s North American Soccer League. "He's My Man" by The Supremes was on the soundtrack.

This was not exactly what I was looking for, but until I find the clip where the Supremes "He's My Man" was used in "The Cleveland Show". I thought I'd share this fun clip:
