    I'm sure we all agree?

Well, there's probably better examples but I think the Marvelettes did a fabulous job with "Uptown."

Oh - duh - I see the Ross song is that weird clip you mentioned earlier. I will have to hear that.

I thought it was hip. It was a cool way to end side one of the Lp. Here it is for those who never heard it.

Hey Lulu, I was going to say the same as marv2 but then I noticed you said "Oops! I meant on another label! I". That's an incredibly large range of songs isn't it? It might include "Beat It", "Thriller", "Billie Jean", "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love", "Ghetto Child", "Midnight Train To Georgia", "That Lady", "Sexual Healing", "Hang On In There Baby" anything by The Four Seasons heck the list is endless.

The Four Tops' version of It's All in the Game is my favorite, Levi Stubbs could have sung Pacman Fever and made it flawless.

    Lulu, no, I don't agree!

It's kind of silly because many artists were on Motown for a blink of an eye. Someone could go to town with Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Neil Young, or Jerry Butler, all of whom recorded for the label. Having said that: some of my picks of non-Motown songs that were recorded by Motown artists are:

Midnight Train To Georgia - Gladys Knight & The Pips
Are You man Enough - Four Tops
Working Day And Night - Michael Jackson
    I Think It's Love-Jermaine Jackson
For The Love Of You - Isley Brothers

Yeah but I dig some of the post-1982 stuff. I can see why people would stop after 1982-1983 though.

    I'll go for:
    Mary Wells "Dear Lover"
Gladys Knight & the Pips "I Feel A Song [[In My Heart)", "On And On"
Jermaine Jackson "Do What You Do"
    Stacy Lattisaw "Miracles"
    Johnny Gill "Half Crazy"
    Eldra DeBarge "Slide"

Waitasec, does Mary Wells' "Dear Lover" count? It was included on Motown's Mary Wells "Ultimate Collection", so some of her post-Motown catalog may have been bought by Motown, just like Edwin Starr's pre-Motown catalog is Motown's, as well as Junior Walker & the All-Stars, Fantastic Four, Grover Washington Jr, Toni Tony Tone...

I think Motown just licensed DEAR LOVER for that collection, along with some of her 20TH CENTURY-FOX recordings. But they didn't buy them.

"Blowin' In The Wind" - Stevie Wonder. For all I know, he probably was the first to mainstream top 10 that Dylan folk staple.

I hear a lot of the structure of "No One Gets the Prize". Ashford & Simpson at the top of their game!

    Poignant and sensational version.
