The Swinging Rocks were from Hamilton, Ohio, which is near Cincinnati. Ruby's producer, and the owner of Hit Productions Records [[a subsidiary of Detroit's Correc-Tone Records) was ex-Motown singer/songwriter, Herman Griffin [[then ex-husband of Mary Wells). Herman was originally from Cincinnati. So, I assume that Ms. Yates was from there, as well.

"It's Been a Long Time", written by Detroiter, William Weatherspoon, was recorded at Correc-Tone's studio in Detroit, in 1964. The Kercheval Ave. address was also Robert West's Lupine Records, and West shared the publishing rights [[LuPine Music) with Correc-Tone's owner, Wilbur Golden. So, it is clear that Griffin had no money of his own, so he got West and Golden to fund his company, and he ran it, Golden provided distribution, and West provide the office space, and it seems pressing costs [[same label printing style as Lupine), and Golden provided the recording facilities [[Correc-Tone Studios[[8912 Grand River, Detroit)[[presumably for free as part of his equity contribution).

I'm bumping this thread up so Mr. J.[[Soul) Smith can see this bit of insight into his question.

The link you added doesn't go to the song. But the 2 links above sound a little different to me from what I remember hearing from my copies of the original record. But, I'm not with my records now to listen, and it wouldn't matter anyway, as I no longer have my turntable set up, and need a new stylus. But the link says that these versions were remastered. Maybe that accounts for them sounding like a different mix?

Can you put up a new link so I can attempt to answer the question?
