Wanda Young of the Marvelettes - After All

This version was later sampled by Kanye West for Jay-Z's Blueprint 2: The Gift & the Curse.

'My girls' are simply the best. Wanda slinks & purrs her way through this pretty little sad Smokey number.

This song was originally recorded by the Supremes and Claudette also did a version.

It was originally recorded by the Miracles with Claudette on lead in early '61. The Supremes recorded their version in winter '61.

The Miracles covered it MONTHS before the Supremes touched it lol

They recorded it in 1960. The Supremes did it after signing with Motown in '61. Probably late 1961.

Out of the groups that recorded this song, which version was officially released first?

^ The Miracles. The Supremes' version was NEVER released until that box set.

By the way I always loved Claudette's voice!

Wanda does a nice job on this, though the arrangement could use a little more pizazz and The Andantes are at their most bland on background.
