What did the cops claim the couple did?

“We are obviously very pleased with the jury verdict and feel that justice was served today,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

The prosecution fixed it so that there would be no way he could win an appeal and get a new trial. Too many charges.

He'll effectively serve the rest of his life in prison. Even if he gets 15-25 years his life will be pretty much over by the time he gets out. Right call by the jury.

Yeah, but how many years before he's eligible for parole?

That's still an incredibly sad situation, no matter how you look at it. Knocking on a stranger's door for help, only to be shot in the face? What's scary about it is the fact that had it happened in Texas, Arkansas, or Florida, he may not have been charged, let alone convicted of the crime.

I'm glad to see that bastard get convicted, but I'm sad to have ever heard of either of those folks through this situation.

I would be happier to have Renisha McBride back, healthy, happy and hanging out with her friends and family.

Good! He essentially got the book thrown at him. The prosecutors made sure he would be convicted with all those charges.

Now, watch the NRA push for a "stand-your-ground" law in Michigan, too. That's how George Zimmerman got off.

This story has been front page news in Detroit for months. Wafer's guilt was never in question, but he certainly would have obtained a better outcome if he had hired a better attorney. He would still be on his way to prison, but he wouldn't be looking at 17 years. I feel bad for everyone involved.

I do not feel bad for Wafer. He had a choice not to pull the trigger. I don't care if he says he felt a heightened sense of threat. He was behind a locked door. There was a screen-door barrier on top of that. He didn't have to answer the door. He could have called the police. The way I see it, he saw a Black person and shot. No questions asked.

Sorry if I sound like i'm bringing race into it, but White people have to stop trying to use fear as an excuse to execute Black people, cops included. The reason you have these lax gun laws is because they are scared of people who don't look like them. Period.

Read my previous post. I live in this community every day. I still feel sorrow for both the Wafer and McBride families.

I read your post. I have no sympathy for Wafer. I'm sick of innocent people getting executed for no reason, and i'm sick of cops using excessive force against unarmed people.

We can do better than this.

This the truth born out of many, many senseless shootings across this country. "I was in fear for my life" Bullshit! You bought a gun and used it, you were never afraid.
