Thanks so much for sharing! Interesting that Tom Jones hit the #1 spot. We'll Cry Together by Maxine Brown was big
here in Orlando also on WOKB, Tiger Radio, our local R&B station.

What a great time musically, and 1969 is a favorite year of mine. Tom Jones at #1 on WDAS--- that's wild! I need to have some of those unknown songs now, i followed the pop chart then and they didnt make it there.

It is also interesting that the Mavis Staples record is a big hit, but wasn't a big national hit. The same can be said with
a few others as well. However, I don't even recall the Tom Jones version of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", but then
I never really paid attention to Tom Jones.
Maxine Brown's record wasn't a national hit either. Neither was Bobby Freeman's or the record by Bill Moss & the
Celestials or Bunny & Cindy [[Bunny Sigler & Cindy Scott).
There were always records that did well here in Orlando, but didn't chart big nationally. "A Woman Will Do Wrong"
was a big R&B hit in Orlando for Dee Dee Sharp and had also hit here by Helene Smith [[original) and Irma Thomas.
Great song, but never a real hit. It was written in part by Paul Kelley.

How about Sally Sayin' Something by Billy Harner from 1967? It didn't chart on Billboard, but was big here in the northeast. He was from Philly, i was 60 miles north of Philadelphia and knew the song very well, heard it all the time.
But, i don't think it hit nationally.
