Not sure what you mean by “mature”, but Marvin Gaye’s music still resonates and will hopefully hold up for generations to come.
Who else would have loved to hear Tammi Terrell give Marvin the business on a cover version of Otis & Carla’s “Tramp”?
If COVID is the reason we don’t get MU 70, that’s completely understandable. As much as I was looking forward to this year’s edition, I wouldn’t want anyone to jeopardize their health in order to put...
The accident that paralyzed Teddy was neither the first or the last accident Teddy was involved in. There’s a theory that either Harold Melvin or some music executives had his cars sabotaged in order...
I’m sure with the COVID-19 protocols in order, putting MU 70 together might have to be put on hold for now. If so, I completely understand. Maybe next year we’ll get a double batch 70 and 71.
Me too, I thought he’d hold out until sometime next summer. But you can never be sure when anyone’s time will come. You’ll be missed Alex.
He was 71 and believed to have had COVID! Rest well and thank you for the music!
That’s easy! Mr. James Jamerson played bass on this as well as almost all of Tammi’s other Motown recordings.
Thanks for sharing the sad news. But at least Tammi and Ernest can finally be together in paradise.
I’m not surprised! Michael Jackson would have died behind bars if he did anything he’s been accused of. People need to let this go and let him Rest In Peace.
I said it was possible, not a concrete fact. Just like it’s possible that people who have access to the tracks can’t agree on who’s vocals they are either. Most of the liner notes on more recent sets...
More, More,More is definitely Tammi! It was initially a solo recording but Marvin was dubbed in to make it a duet. Even though they were cut years apart, it has the same energy as the tracks that are...
It should be noted that only “I’m Your Puppet” has the VS note. The rest of the “Easy” tracks don’t have that. It’s possible, emphasis on possible, that Val only sang for Tammi just for that one song...
I always thought Jamerson was there from jump street. Didn’t he play on “Money” and Marv Johnson recordings too?
Alicia Keys ”Songs In A Minor” and Snoop Doggy Dogg’s ”Doggystyle” are the only ones I can think of. I'm trying to limit it to artists who have more than three albums, not counting greatest hits...
Also, “Someday, We’ll be Together” was cut in Detroit and even then, Carole Kaye wouldn’t have played on it since she was no longer with the company by then. Most of LA produced tracks at that point...
This is what I meant 9 years ago when I said people are trying to “Scrape off Tammi”. Marvin himself never claimed Valerie sang on YAINTGB yet some people still insist otherwise.
I can’t read any of that!
Several of the songs on the Blinky set got this reaction from me. The one that had me the most steamed was her take on “Your Love Was Worth Waiting For”! That cut had hit written all over it.
Marv mentioned shortly before he passed, that Bunny & Tammi were cousins, probably distant cousins.
2020 has been an awful year, period. First Midnight Johnny, now Marv. I personally had no problem with him. There are/were plenty of members that could be just as arrogant and childish as Marv. But...
Who would have thought this would be Marv’s last post! 😢
This place won’t be the same without Marv. I know he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but I admired how he gave his POV without hesitation. Say hi to Midnight Johnny for us, Marv!
Is there any way I can hear snippets of the songs. I’m eager to hear Eddie’s take on “There’s No Love Left” one of my favorite Motown era Isley Bros songs.
