Honestly, I don’t think she cares about quality anymore. Quality = Money, and Ross is sadly a tightwad when it comes to her professional work. That is why I have no interest in the new cd.
I never heard of Margie Joseph, but I do not like her phrasing on Same Love. It lags ..... I sat impatiently waiting for the next line to be delivered. I much prefer Diana’s phrasing.
I think her film days are behind her. I always thought she only wanted to do “big” movies, and rejected anything that was not a big budget extravaganza. This was to her peril.
M & C were really rocking. I would love to hear an instrumental version with only the background vocals. Diana’s vocal were young and fresh. Her Midwestern accent is still heard. At some point in...
Did artists actually record songs twice, once in mono and once in stereo?
I’ll Set You Free ........ What an absolutely awesome lead vocal and backup. Ross sounds like Ross at the top of her game! That song brought the young me so much sheer joy. Thank you Diana!
Who...
Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny is certainly great and very rarely heard.
also, Wives and Lovers and The Race is On, both by Jack Jones.
Sparkle. ... absolutely brilliant both musically and vocally.
I have little interest in the current music scene. I am talking specifically about the RCA years being a void in my musical enjoyment.
Diana Ross in Sunset Blvd would be seen by many as being autobiographical. If Ross was still a current superstar, the role would be awesome.
I bought the Swept Away album in 1984. I played it often I am sure. But, I have zero memory of the album and Children of the World. I just played Children on YouTube. I do not remember the song...
George, is there a place where all the Ross/Supremes expanded editions are available for sale? I missed purchasing many because I had no idea they were for made.
Why Do Fools was a strong album compared to what came after it. I was on the verge of turning in my Ross fan club card.
I love to re-find forgotten music from my youth.
I just re-found “Shame Shame” by the Magic Laterns. I don’t think it is ever played on the oldies channels.
Can you think of other forgotten...
Ollie, yes Let’s Go Up was a good groove. But, again instrumentally and vocally it lacked depth. Ross’ weak production stamp was all over it. Is there a drummer on the recording; it sounds like a...
I am now listening to You Do It. Her vocals sound so thin. Instrumentally, it is also very sparse. That organ is annoying. The song is great, but it needs a bigger and richer production. Can you...
17 minutes is tooooo long for any song. The original long version on Ross’ album was perfect. It is hard to better perfection.
Each one of her gems is my favorite.
Happy birthday Diana. I attended a Diana concert at the Westchester Premiere Theater in 1975 on her birthday. The audience sang HB to her. [[comedian Sandy...
interesting ideas. It was a good song that needed a bigger production and better producer. Hey, nothing new about that in the Ross world of recordings.
“I’m Living In Shame” to “Mom Was Cooking Bread”
lololol
I listened to the entire interview, and I do not think Nick said anything inappropriate. He seemed genuine. He did not work with Wilson long enough to know much of anything.
I was amazed at how...
So sorry to hear of your ailments. Age is not often kind. You sure have a good ear for remixes!
Awesome remix of a very young Ross !!!!
Thank you, Dr. Bluebrock
