OH BE MY LOVE was also a remake, having previously been done by Smokey and the Miracles.
I read the book last fall and enjoyed it very much. For me, it was nice to read about groups that I didn't know much about, like the Bobbettes or the Chantels. Or the later years of groups like the...
I think SOMEDAY was meant to be Diana's first solo single but Shelley Berger convinced Berry to release it under the Supremes' name instead.
Or it might have been Jackie Hicks of the Andantes. I believe she was the low voice in that group.
During the late 70s and early 80s, most of Diana's peers [Aretha, Dionne, etc.] were releasing at least one album per year. During some of those years, Dionne and Millie Jackson actually released...
There aren't any Supremes on this track. This was one of Diana's initial solo tracks produced by Bones Howe. When Diana's version wasn't released, they gave the track to Jean.
If I'm not mistaken, this documentary is one of the extras made for the MOTOWN 25 dvd.
It went on for some time. When she came to the Boston area in 1985, the act was billed as THE SUPREMES FEATURING MARY WILSON [I believe] and the ad featured a photo of Mary [wearing the TCB gown from...
Not sure, but looking at dates, it could possibly be Stevie Wonder's THAT GIRL.

I don't know if this was a consideration. But I believe Louvain is rather short. Onstage, it might have looked a bit off with her standing in Flo's usual spot.
Re Marlene, I have read various...
On the actual labels of the Supremes/Tempts TOGETHER lp, the sides are switched from how they are listed on the album cover.

Like many, I think my small collection, for all the enjoyment it has given me, will end up in a recycling plant or a dumpster. I don't know anyone who is interested in it and I doubt my nephew would...
My father had a reel to reel that he would bring out on special occasions. It was great to hear the various items he recorded, courtesy of his local barbershop.
I would assume that Diana had one,...
In the notes for the YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE / HOUSE OF LOVE cd, Candi said that she looking forward to working with Dave again after YHRF but he reneged. She also said that he was a frustrated artist...
Ha ha! At first I thought you were referring to the Tempts' HEY GIRL [I LIKE YOUR STYLE]. Wonder if Cliff ever tried that one?
I think Cliff's version is pretty good.
But it is actually a Gerry Goffin-Carole King composition made famous by Freddie Scott. The Tempts also did a version on their CLOUD NINE album.
On the HOUSE OF LOVE vinyl that I have, Candi sings throughout VICTIM, with no instrumental break. I have been really disappointed that this version has not seemed to make it to cd.
The lineup looks great. But considering all of this is supposed to take place on day, it would be a real dilemma for me as I would hate to think that I would have to choose between two of my faves...
Most likely, it is a bootleg. It looks like it was recorded during one of her RAPTURE tours. I remember going to see her in concert twice in 1987 and she performed STOP TO LOVE each time. But when...
I think I may like TOGETHER a wee bit more than JOIN. Maybe it was the poster. ;)
There are quite a few great songs on it, STUBBORN KIND OF FELLOW, FOR BETTER OR WORSE, and WHY [MUST BE FALL IN...
According to Otis, that was Damon Harris. Supposedly during a recording session, Berry wanted Damon to put some "oomph" into a line and Damon sort of whined that he was tired. Berry told Otis "Get...
The concert took place at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC around the time of Candi's HIS HANDS cd.
As I said, VICTIM got a great response, especially when she sang the lines "I wonder what it is that...
The last time I saw Candi in concert, she had to sing VICTIM twice because it received such a great response.
