I attended a concert of Mary's where she did REFLECTIONS, somewhere circa 1994. I think it was her third number after LOVE CHILD and the Rascals GOOD LOVIN'.
REFLECTIONS was the opening song in the Rock and Roll/ Supremes medley she used to do in the early 80s.
I did find a pdf of the 12/26/70 issue of Billboard and on page TA-20, it lists Diana as #1 Female Vocalist in the Top Singles Artist category, with three charted singles. Behind her rounding out the...
Interesting. I much prefer the mix on STANDING OVATION. The mix on A LITTLE KNIGHT MUSIC sounds muddy to me.
One of Dionne's Facebook groups just posted a Cashbox ad from 1970 saying Dionne was Cashbox's Top Female Artist in their Best of 1970 poll. There was also another Cashbox ad that said that she was...
I remember reading that Diana was Billboard's Number One Female Vocalist for 1970 but I can't recall where.
You can't top that moment, IMO.
But I must confess that I was less impressed with the live version I heard them do on the tv show SOUL! It is a good performance but they do it in a lower key than...
The interviewer lied and told Smokey that Diana had discussed it in her book. Previously Smokey mostly denied it, even though he admitted dating her. He just didn't give a timeline. But I guess he...
I've seen they have put a few of these over the past couple of days, including Gladys Knight and the Pips, and the Righteous Brothers. Great to see.
I agree. It doesn't sound like Michael at all. To me, it sounds like they took Jason Weaver's voice from the scene in the Jacksons' mini-series when the family went to see Diana in Vegas and Diana...
Not longer than Mary but Syreeta lasted quite a while at Motown, maybe 15 years or so.
This is probably my favorite of their Motown albums, along with IF I WERE YOUR WOMAN. I honestly don't think there's a dud track on it, except for perhaps THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD.
My faves:

One Love in My Lifetime - Diana Ross
What's Easy for Two is So Hard for One - Mary Wells
I think the last Sullivan appearance was pre-taped. Even the applause sounds canned. So they did at least two takes of the hits medley, one with the cone head mike and one with the flat, and they did...
I particularly enjoy the harmonies of DMF.
Faves of mine:
Lazy Bones
Ooowee Baby
Who Could Ever Doubt My Love [ I love the way they sing the title]
Bring It On Home to Me, and Make Someone...
In J. Randy's book on Motown, I believe he mentioned a play that Cindy appeared in after she left the group. I can't get to my book at the moment and I don't know the name of the production so I...
Cindy did seem to support Mary in times of need, even going with Mary on an overseas engagement and helping to train another vocalist as well. Mary probably convinced her that they would be stronger...
I wondered that myself. They did the same thing with the single edit of "River Deep, Mountain High."

I remember reading something about this in Gerri Hershey's book NOWHERE TO RUN. I think it was some of the material that ended up on MIDNIGHT LOVE. In SUPREME FAITH, Mary wrote of the visit. In his...
The Marvelettes? No. But Gladys Horton did appear on one of TJ Lubinsky's PBS specials.
I'd be surprised if the Vandellas were even asked. By then, Martha was a solo act and Suzanne probably figured asking her would be enough. And don't forget, Martha did have another number, a duet...
I bought the Collectables disc after seeing Baby in concert at Joe's Pub in NYC. I haven't played it in a while but I think some of the tracks might have been sourced from not-so-pristine vinyl....
Not Motown but a similar book was produced for THE OTIS REDDING STORY vinyl boxed set from the late 80s.
