She would've been OK with MARY showing up in a potatoe sack  ... first of all, she shouldn't have been, and secondly I bet those thoughts weren't the same for Diana. And for heavens sakes...
ya I know when i was a teenager I was eagerly gobbling up my great grandparents music ...:p
and wasn't Rick James Motown's hottest property at the time?
were they embarrassed by any association??

thanks for mentioning this clip contains an interview. :) A quite revealing one.
Yes and how especially right for Mary to be the one to remember Florence. [and least of all, Diana [or Berry] who couldn't have cared less who'd been a Supreme or not].

I see I placed this in the wrong thread. Laughable isn't the right word .....but it does give me a chuckle that all Jean had to do was jump on the disco train and everything would've been hunky dory...
the reason I find it laughable is that Jean Terrell had zero interest in doing disco. When she did her own album in 1978 she didn't allow for even one such song on it. [I believe that's right]....
Jean Terrell a disco diva?? its laughable.
Come to think of it, I'd have said the same for Diana Ross

Diana is trying so hard to pull away from that clingy Mariah Carey!!
sorry, I didn't mean to step on your post :)
*understood now the point about TIME AND LOVE sounding out-of-place with the rest of the material on the LP.
thanks!
You could very well be right Ollie....it might have been a one-two punch of success. I guess we'll never know.
I doubt it though. Were you actually thinking at the time, "gee, I wish this Chic/...

But then after the earliest years , what record by them does sound...
The TOUCH LP jacket is excellent. Direct eye contact that's warm and friendly. Inviting.

This is fun. Forcing me to pay attention to what instruments are being utilized for the intros ....there were choices to made by these arrangers !

I don't know that horrible is the right word for this. Pretty unobtrusive ... listenable background music ... your basic album filler. I heard the word...
Disco was not dead when Diana hit #1 on its chart with UPSIDE/ COMING OUT.
Billboard had a Hot 100 that week for the genre just as it did for Soul, Country, and Pop.
