Good news/bad news. Good news is Fitz will likely return this season. Bad news is that it may be too late to help the Football Team of Washington.

Washington Football Team places Ryan Fitzpatrick on IR with hip injury

ESPN Staff Writer
ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Football Team placed quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on injured reserve, but it remains uncertain whether it will be a short or long stay.
An MRI revealed that Fitzpatrick had a right hip subluxation, but coach Ron Rivera said he'll see more doctors to determine the severity of the injury and how long he'll be sidelined. He'll have to be on IR for at least three weeks.
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Fitzpatrick is expected to miss six to eight weeks.Fitzpatrick was injured on a second-quarter hit in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He was replaced by Taylor Heinicke, who will start Thursday's game vs. the New York Giants. Heinicke completed 11 of 15 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown Sunday.
In three games with Washington dating to last season, including one start in a playoff loss to Tampa Bay, Heinicke has completed 62.8% of his passes for 565 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He has a 50.1 Total QBR in those seven quarters. He last started a regular-season game on Dec. 23, 2018.
Kyle Allen will serve as the No. 2 quarterback. Kyle Shurmur was signed to the practice squad.
Change at this spot is nothing new for Washington. Because of injuries or ineffectiveness, it used four different starting quarterbacks in 2018, three more a year later and then three in Rivera's first season.
"It's the nature of the game," Rivera said. "Unfortunately it's happened more than it needs to have in the last season and a game. I hope we get a streak where we keep guys on the field for a long time and benefit from their abilities."
After failing in an attempt to trade for Matthew Stafford, Washington signed Fitzpatrick in the offseason because it liked his veteran knowledge and felt he was still improving at age 37. It did not want to mortgage its future to acquire a quarterback in the draft when it became clear none would be available with the 19th pick in the first round.
Washington's plan has been to be more aggressive pursuing a quarterback when it feels confident in the roster around that position.
For now, the team must win despite another injury at the position. Rivera called the situation "frustrating."
"We like the guys we have; they've done good things for us. We'll see what happens," he said. "I'm as confident as I could be."
Jerry, I have to wonder if WFT will go after Cam in light of Fitzpatrick's injury.
Did you watch the game last night [Ravens vs Raiders]? In OT the Raiders pulled it out. In watching the game the Ravens' celebration of obtaining Al Villenueva from the Steelers may have been short lived. Watch & see.
I never considered Cam replacing Fitz but it makes a lot of sense. Might save their season. And yeah, I watched the game while conversing with a guy online with whom I was caught up in a tight fantasy football contest. He was frustrated all night even though I kept telling him that I lose in the last minute of Monday Night Football several times per year.
He had Darren Waller and Lamar Jackson and I didn't have anybody playing. All I needed was anybody else to score the Raiders' last regulation TD besides Waller and I would have won. After he scored, it was a forgone conclusion because I was only up by three points with 5 minutes remaining. Then, Jackson laid that bomb into that receiver on a busted play and true to form, I went behind with 3 minutes to play. One day, I'll learn.
HEY JERRY,WE BOTH ARE LOSERS,FITZ IS DONE I BELIEVE, SO IT'S UP TO THE KID TO SINK OR SWIM[we're dead in the water]TOO MANY GOOD TEAMS TO OVERCOME[K.C-BUFFALO-GREEN BAY-SEATTLE-DALLAS TWICE]OF COURSE YOU KNEW THAT I WAS HAVING A HOOCH HULLUCINATION WHEN I SAID THAT THEY WOULD PLAY IN THE TITLE GAME-HEHEHEHEHEHEHE...[gulp!!]THE BEST WE'LL DO IS [7-10]AND PRAY FOR A QB NEXT YEAR-WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? ???????
Oh congrats moe, our steelers pulled it out.
Hey, Jai. Are you down with signing Cam?
Thanks, R&B but a long way to go.
NO,NOT CAM,BUT THE KID PULLED IT OFF THURSDAY PROUD OF HIM BUT THE [D]HAS GOT TO PLAY BETTER OR WE'RE TOAST..NOW LET'S SEE-MAHOLMES[OUCH] RODGERS[OUCH] JOSH ALLEN[OUCH] DAK[ouch]WILSON[OUCH]..WE MAY BE IN DEEP DO DO[OUCH]!!!
Stupid me. I saw your kicker botch that kick and switched the channel. An hour later, I heard somebody on CBS Sports Network discussing what the Giants had to do to rebound from the loss and had to find out about the penalty and rekick late. As I said before: You'd think I'd learn.
R&B, You want to talk about who's in deep do do? My team.........I was there & it sure wasn't pretty at all!!! What is it......everyone having a groin injury? Didn't go om 4th & 1?
I feel really sorry for Tyson Alualu [[fractured ankle). That was a royal ass-whooping.
And Ben is way past his sell by date. How many times in the post conference do I have to hear "I have to play better?" Just retire & get it over with.....
I'd be happy that you're not me, Moe. I like two teams that are a combined 1-3 and lost by a combined 83-25 yesterday. With that being said, Atlanta played much better before things got away from them against Tampa Bay and actually were in position to take the lead before the wheels fell off. It's more dire in Miami where Tua's out with sore ribs. Somehow, that silly rule where D-linemen can't land on quarterbacks only applies to other quarterbacks. NFL gonna NFL.
There's going to be ups and downs and now, there's another week in the season to go in either direction.
Yep,thing are tough for us right now gang, and if the[wft]don't rush josh allen sunday my problem is going to be much worst, there are folks calling for[del rio's]head already,it's still early but the big guns are loaded and waiting for my guys.....ouch!!!
They're going to do the same thing to Heinecke that they did to Tua and Jacoby Brissett: Blitz on 60% of their plays and dare him to make quick accurate throws.
Heard Tomlin's press conference - Just about everyone has a groin injury, Ben has a left pec injury [ who knows how that/if that'll affect his play Sunday]. Steelers celebrated Tuesday by signing Taco Charlton. We'll see how that goes. Playing the Bengals Sunday at Heinz Field.
.....And it was a total system failure!! There no other way to say it. Steelers really looked terrible yesterday!
WELL, ANOTHER FINE MESS..A MUST WIN AND IF WE BLOW THIS ONE...WELL[goodfornothinbums]FITZ MAGIC TURNED INTO FITZ MUSTARD,MY GREAT DEFENSE IS THE GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT,THE OFFENSE IS...OFF..I'M OUT!!!
Join my "Club In The Cellar," R&B. I'm right with you.
Only thing I'm asking you to do is NOT bring any of your hooch down the cellar.
I don't want to set the place on fire.;)
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.MOE I WISH I COULD COOK UP A SPECIAL BATCH FOR THOSE[goodfornothinbums]THE STEELERS MAY RIGHT THIER SHIP,BUT I'M GETTING THIS SINKING FEELING[the kind I get when I eat at Grady's]THAT MY TEAM WILL HAVE A LOST SEASON..BUT I'M GONNA BE SO FULL OF THIS WONDERFUL ELIXUR THAT IT WON'T MATTER...AFTER A COUPLE SIPS OF THIS POTION NOTHING MATTERS,HEHEHEHE...I'M GONNA BE OUT FOR A COUPLE DAYS IF THEY LOSE...PASSED OUT...GO STEELERS!!!
They're playing Green Bay. A Steelers win is gonna take more than your hooch.
Oh well. My beloved Falcons fell less than a minute short to the Football Team of Washington. Congratulations, Jai. It was a good game to watch, but a horrible game to fall short in.
And dang it if the Dolphins don't know how to get off of their shnide. To make it worse, my NBA team is Philadelphia and they're all over the sports blotter for the wrong reasons, so I can't even say "I can't wait for the NBA to start".
But alas, college basketball is right around the corner.
BTW: The Steelers are in this game, Moe. A couple of good offensive series would be nice after the half. If the coach can get their attention, they can come back.
{It's halftime - 5:49 PM}
It didn't happen, Jerry & we are firmly at the bottom in our division. Too many issues. I have NO idea what's going on in Tomlin's head. And if this season is any indication then
Big Ben needs to get on his horse & ride out of town. It's time!
Lots of Falcons fans say the same thing about Matty Ice but he looked like the Matt Ryan of old yesterday. Unfortunately, the defense looked like the Falcons defense of old, too. Can't catch a break.
Big Ben isn't as mobile as he once was. For $19million the Steelers could've done a lot with that $$ on other needs & called it a rebuilding year. The only impressive play was that first quarter pass to DJ for the TD. Mason Rudolph is not a fave of mine [[he, too, has cement legs in the pocket) but he's got the arm & has some very good receivers to throw it to.
Jerry,we were lucky to get pass the falcons, i have little faith in this defense, the pathers will beat us and then the big guns come out..we in trouble!!!
It's not luck to be the better team. Falcons Nation is in full meltdown right now so I hope WFT World is at least happy with a two-game win streak. It's something to build on.
Jai, what's going on with the WFT? The scandal bubbled up again and got racist John Gruden fired and now, there are calls for the NFL to release all information related to the investigation into the scuzzball activities of Daniel Snyder. Folks at league office are scrambling because everybody knows that Gruden was just part of a rotten culture within the entire league structure. They're trying to keep Bruce Allen out of it but he's going to become a center of discussion by early next week.
And then, there's the team's disrespectful way of communicating a Sean Taylor jersy retirement. You have a good team, but a terrible franchise right now.

Sean Taylor jersey retirement: WFT president Jason Wright apologizes for timing of ceremony announcement
The team gave little notice of their plans to retire Taylor's jersey
By Bryan DeArdo
USA Today
Washington Football Team president Jason Wright says that he is "angry and sad" while apologizing to Washington fans about the lack of notice ahead of Sean Taylor's jersey retirement ceremony, which is slated to take place before and at halftime of Sunday's home game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Sunday is also Washington's Alumni Homecoming, as former players will complete a community service project in Taylor's memory.
The team did not announce its plans to retire Taylor's jersey until Thursday, which led to criticism from Washington's fanbase. Wright addressed Washington fans in an open letter that was published on the team's website.
"We thought that saving the news for a game week reveal was the best way to focus the message on Sean and his legacy," Write said in the note. "We didn't realize that so many of you wanted to make a trip to FedExField to be present for this moment -- a true lack of understanding of what you, the lifeblood of this franchise, needed to mourn our collective loss and celebrate Sean's legacy.
"As the guy who really wanted us to start honoring players better and differently -- in line with what they paid in the blood, sweat, and tears -- I'm angry and sad that we messed up your opportunity to honor Sean in person this weekend. I feel a pit in my stomach knowing how we have let so many of you down."

Wright said that fans who will not be at the game can view both the pregame tribute video and well as livestream the halftime ceremony. He also stated that the team will be making Taylor's No. 21 rally towel available for purchase with all proceeds going to a legacy project in Taylor's honor.
Fans weren't the only ones who were given little heads-up of the team's plans. Gabe Taylor, Sean Taylor's younger brother, told 106.7 The Fan he was not told by the team of their plans to retire Taylor's jersey until earlier this week. Wright detailed in his note that Gabe and other members of Taylor's family are invited guests for Sunday's ceremony.
A beloved player in Washington, Taylor quickly emerged as one of the NFL's top defensive backs after being the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft. But halfway through the 2007 season, Taylor was shot by intruders at his Miami home and died the following day. He was just 24 years old. He was added to the team's Ring of Fame in 2008.
Bruce Allen has some explaining to do between himself & Pasch [sp], the NFL general counsel.
Daniel Snyder does too. I saw an interview where someone suggested that the inexplicably unprofessional and overtly corrupt "oral report" of the investigation into the WFT's front office was delivered that way because Snyder knows where enough NFL bodies are buried that he can nuke the league if it tries to reveal the findings to the public. A lot of people thought he would be forced to sell the team the way the league got rid of the Panthers' Jerry Richardson. Some speculate that although he was assessed a fine as punishment for the findings, he neither paid it nor was he required to. I want to see more information released.
It's too bad Colin Kaepernick settled his lawsuit against the league because his discovery would have revealed how dirty and racist the head office and owners really are.
Jerry i'm more worried about a pissed off kc team coming here and dropping[50]on us,hell we made sorry[jamis winston]look like joe namath, mahomes is gonna have[500 yds]passing and won't get touched...but hope springs eternal....the gizzards are starting...excuse me jerry i'm not myself and my other self is in hiding!!!!!!!

I have to say that Dallas/NE game was great! It was even better when Dallas won!!
I have to go & find Ms M. She would've been all over that Dallas win. And Jerry, you know
she loves "her boys." The Falcons were on a bye, & the Steelers pulled out a win in OT.
Steelers are on a bye this week, WFT plays GB [in GB], Falcons play Miami [in Miami].
Seems to me that Mahomes has been intercepted more times this year than before.
Well, hopefully I have some good news. I got a hold of Ms M, She wants to come back & post [especially on this thread]. She needs a new password. Hopefully she will get in touch with Ralph & we can hear about "her boyz.":D
Wow,that's good news moe,we need our[ms m]...hey jerry,the blind dog found a bone...gizzards win game one,nba finals here we come...haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaa!!!!

Missed you guys but first things first....HOW BOUT DEM BOYZ
I've been in Boyz heaven this season, even the ALMOST win against the Bucs didn't dampen my spirits and although I almost had a heart attack against the Pats.... my Boyz pulled it through.
Refuse to dog the rest of your teams cause hey....I know the feeling but hang in there, could take years like it did for me [[and it's not over yet) but your day will come. LOL:D
welcome back ms m!!!!!!!! I am so happy to have you back!!!!!!!
Yippee!!!!!!
So, other than sports, how is everyone doing? I still refuse to talk politics so let's not go there.
For me life has been up, life has been down. Nothing new there but every day above ground works for me these days. Trying to wait out these so call experts about a booster for us J&J vaccinated folks but that's about it on my end.
May take me a minute to catch up on a few post but I'll be around.
Hey Moe,
I NEVER check my spam folder but something told me to look and there was the SDF email. LOL
Thanks for the welcome. It's good to be back.
