Shots fired... To be continued...
I don't drink. In fact, I have almost the whole bottle of vodka that I bought for New Year's Eve sitting in the cupboard. Lord, I hope it's still there come Sunday morning... Don't want to be watching the fourth quarter like:

Well tomorrow is the day that at least one of my three teams I want to lose will be out, and if there's a miracle, two of them, Don't care much about the Seahawks or Falcons game at all. One will lose tomorrow and I'll hope the other loses next week. Doesn't matter to me which order. I do anticipate the Seahawks' playoff experience and Falcons' lack of and Matty Ice's poor playoff play will result in an upset in Atlanta, but who the hell knows. I'd just like to see a competitive football game without refs handing a team the game like they've done in far too many this year and previously.
Patriots Texans I expect will be horrible, and I'm spending the weekend with my family and friends who are all big Pats homers [[which would make a Texans upset so much better), but I hope we at least get a two score game at most. If the Texans can make it a competitive game through the last couple minutes and a one score game at the end then I'll be extremely happy with that. If there is some kind of MLK weekend Miracle, I would be thrilled.
Looking forward to Sunday's games. All teams that I don't dislike and very good competitive and interesting matchups. Pulling for Chiefs and Packers to some degree because that's the Super Bowl I'd most like to see but if the outcomes are different and the games are good and competitive, I'll be happy.
Wowsy wowsy, woo woo.
LOL.
Most of the ESPN guys picked the obvious. I laughed when Papi picked Seattle!
Well Jerry?
Anything can happen. I'm a Russell Wilson fan and have been since he was at Wisconsin. I wish the Dolphins had picked him instead of Ryan Tannehill. He's always an x-factor because he buys time in the pocket and that lets his receivers scramble, run to the ball and get plays even when the defense plays well. Jimmy Graham found new life this season and if I had to guess, he's going to be the player that they go to the most this afternoon. I'm less concerned about their receivers or Thomas Rawls, who broke out last week for 161 yards, although it's the playoffs. You never know who's going to be That Guy who everybody is surprised broke out until he shows up.
Fun fact: People malign Atlanta's defense, and they should. We gave up a ton of yards and a ton of points this season. However, since the bye in week 10, we've only given up 19 points per game, which is actually half a point less than Seattle's defense has given up. We lost our best cornerback, Desmond Trufant, to injury but have been able to play well without him. Jalen Collins looks like he's worth the second round pick we used on him last year. And with the bye week, every active player participated fully in practice this week. Part of the reason we gave up all those points earlier is because we started four rookies on defense. They are now playing much faster and look like pros. Deion Jones is going to make the all-rookie team and should be defensive rookie of the year. Keanu Neal is balling out at strong safety and he's nowhere near as reckless as [[ahem - somebody around here) paints him out to be. Brian Poole is an undrafted free agent who's playing well enough to get a multi-year contract in the off-season. And DeVondre Campbell is coming back from injury and should be the one who covers and tries to slow down Graham.
Oh, then there's Vic Beasley, who will do his best to put Wilson on the ground. I expect to win although I don't expect the game to be easy. It will come down to Atlanta's offensive line vs Seattle's defensive line. No prediction for a score but this game is close enough that I'm worried. But that's just me. I'll be running SDF silence for the game like I normally do. I'm a nasty person when my teams are playing and I'd hate to have that spill out onto this thread, but when the game is over, I'll either return happy and looking forward to next week or salty and looking forward to next year.
Love the post Jerry Oz. VERY well written and lots of facts.
Be concerned but never worry. I agree with arr&bee, it's Atlanta's time....THIS TIME!;)
Let's Get This Party Started!
Neal and Beasley got destroyed that drive. This is exactly what I expected from the Falcons D. Need the offense to step up. But the Seahawks O is pretty bad and could easily fall in the tank soon.
Jerry, I'm thinking you're like I was before last year's Super Bowl. We both should've expected absolutely nothing from our respective teams. Of course this game is very very far from over so your confidence may not be blind but this kinda reminds me of the countless times I've thought the Panthers would win even though I should've expected the loss. Guess that's just what sports fandom is most of the time...
Jerry Oz: I know you're jumping up and down right now!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA
