Lionel Richie s " Do it to me"- Question

Hi Folks,

when hearing this one [[maybe his last Single on the Motown-Label) I always wonder why he sings "my Motown-Lover" [[followed by "Motown-Lover" from the Backup-Singers....) Maybe its his way to say goodbye to the Label that makes him really BIG ??

Any Ideas?
