Summertime is quintessential Diana Ross.
A timeless performance to a beautiful song. The whole album was a welcome return to the Diana Ross voice i first fell in love with, proving how good she could still sound when not involved in the production.
“Shine” imo was the obvious choice for lead single whilst “Summertime” with radio support might have done well as the followup.
Sadly bad single choices killed the album.
Summertime was Diana Ross at her very finest. Such a beautiful song performed and produced with such class and sincerity. It proved she could still interpret a song as good as anyone and better than most.
"Summertime" is a lovely song.
