Yes more awesome picks! Marv I was thinking about "This Old Heart Of Mine" to add. Jimmy Ruffin's "Brokenhearted" is just an immortal classic to me.
Another Classic Soul JAM from the summer of '66...

While "My Girl" is probably their signature song, "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" is my favorite. But they have so many classic songs.
Thanks Luciano and great choice TomatoTom!
Before the truly got "Funked Up"! LOL!!! The Parliaments - "[[I Wanna) Testify" - 1967

Hi agian, Marv!
You have made me a "revival" when at my 14 - 15 years old I purchased one of my first vynils 8in fact this was my first COMPILATION by VVAA): "Soul Food [[Soul a la Carta)" by ABC distributed here in Spain by Discos Mediterráneo / Movieplay. How I enjoyed every one of the tracks wich I remember exactly by memory!!
- "Chocolate Chip" - Isaac Hayes
- "It's Yours To Have" - Freda Payne
- "How Long" - Pointer Sisters
- "Everlasting Love" - Carl Carlton
- "It's Fooling You" - The Dramatics
- "Time" - Mighty Clouds Of Joy
- "Original Midnight Mama" - Sylvia Smith
- "Fighting To Keep My Head Above water" - Frankie Redmond
- "Warning" - Clarence Carter
- "You Got The Love" - Rufus feat. Chaka Khan
- "I Get Off On You" - Lydia Pense & Cold Blood

- "Three Steps From True Love" - Billy Davis, Jr.
- "Reach For The Moon [[Poor People) - Angelo Bond
- "Disco Connection" - Isaac Hayes
- "Loving Time" - Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr.
Every track, IMHO, was the bomb! grace to that compilation I discovered The Dramatics, Angelo Bond and others and purchase more and more new albums!
Thanks for the memories.
The Dells!!!! There's a lot of plastic faces of every kind....

LTD's "Love Ballad" featuring the truly underrated Jeffrey Osborne.

My favorite song by The Preacher talking about Harry, Mary and their kids.

Luciano, speaking of the Dells. The next three I'm posting are a Triple play from the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti, Michigan area. First up, Miss Barbara Lewis with "Hello Stranger" backed up by none other than the Dells! From 1963:

Mr. Deon Jackson and "Love Makes The World Go Round" from 1966:

Ashford & Simpson - "Is It Still Good To Ya", [[1978) Nick was from Ypsilanti.

Great choices! Awesome to see "Loves Makes The World Go Around". I didn't know the Dells were on that record. Always love seeing A&S so classy and to me Valerie is such an underrated singer. She is awesome.
Thanks Marv - Can't wait for your next selections.
Before Soul Train went on the air all the kids in my area was diggin' the Ohio Players and " Pain" [[1971). They even made up a dance called "The Pain" LOL!

Of course, Marv! Many times I played this entire LP at the local radio - station of my town on my soul music program "Negre i Rosa" [[RCA, first half of the 80's). Some times I played 4 or 6 compilations of VVAA LP's, two turntables and along 1 hour, combining albums two by two [["Soul Food" with my favorite, "Time" by Mighty Clouds Of Joy, "Soul Train Super Tracks" with my favorite "A Mother For My Children" by The Whispers; "Let's Clean Up The Gheto" with my favorite "Now Is The Time To Do It" by Teddy;...). And about Angelo Bond, I purchased the "Bondage" album with the gem "Goodbay My Love"!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgsgW7SQfkA
"Mama, I'm depending on you, to tell me the truth..."
"Mama look up with tear in eye and said..."
"PAPA WAS A ROLLIN' STONE!"
Marv, you know these[new age]dj's ain't gonna play these classics you gotta go to a true oldies clubs to hear these in a club setting.
The snow has melted and it is the Spring of 1973 and this was on the radio..................

From Christmas season 1967. This one was played almost constantly by my neighbors at the time and it was a local number one record in Toledo. Al Greene - "Back Up Train" [[notice he had an extra "e" on his name at the time).

I think I liked "Blame it On the Boogie" more, this here was also a JAM in the Fall of 1978.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydY_s7yqbO8
It was June 1978 and I was in a singing group made up of some high school buddies for one hot second LOL! We were to perform this at our H.S. Carnival but broke up over who was going to be the lead singer. One of the greatest of the great songs by the O'Jays and my personal favorite....."Usta Be My Girl"!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mny5qTy35zY
Interesting and funny stuff! BTW, in my case, before I started to studying in Barcelona I makes some journeys to this city to search some books... and ALBUMS, was the end of 1978 and I find the last O'Jays album, "So Full Of Love"; I was some deceived for the sound some "cheese" or bland, particularly on "She Used To Be My Girl"... I hated this song but more I heard, more I loved... Really my favorite tracks here are "Take Me To The Stars" and my absolute favorite "This Time Baby", IMHO much better than the cover by Jackie Moore I think from a year later, 1979.
Cheers to all!
Here is the first of two classics by Tyrone Davishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxQywIj4BkY
