Lol, Ray sure didn't pull any punches.
Elvis was a hero to most, but ...... Well, I think you all know the rest.
He obviously was only "king" in terms of chart success but even he would agree with Ray Charles here.
Ray and many other black artists of that era - Little Richard being a main one - complained about how the media hyped dude up when rock and roll was mostly a black genre dating back to the late '40s [[though it didn't get its moniker until Alan Freed in 1951).
But obviously Uncle Ray wasn't lying when he said this.
