While I personally prefer the J5's funk rock-ish version, this one does it for me especially when it segues to Take a Stroll. The coldest track the Tempts did during the psychedelic period imho.

... you just dance and hum along ...
Ok that would have worked better if you hadn't blabbed on after the thread title, midnight... :p:p:p
Anyway, I hadn't listened to The Tempts' version in ages. Kinda trippy. Not one of my faves from the album, but still pretty good. I like the end. "Take A Stroll" I'm not sure I've ever properly listened to. :)
Well, I just listened to "Take A Stroll Thru Your Mind" for the first full time. I mean, wow... even as a massive Temptations fan, I'd probably need to be as high as Norman was to appreciate that one.
Lol @ TT123, well that's how I do it sometimes. ;)
Take a Stroll is trippy though, that's why I love it. Maybe I'm just a weirdo. :D
Not weird,just a temptaholic!!
I think you're all three midnight.
What is your favourite song from this album? Mine used to be "You Need Love Like I Do [[Don't You)" but I think it's "Psychedelic Shack" now. Everything about the track is just on point. :)
I'll always love The Temptations' "Hum Along And Dance/Take A Stroll Through You Mind" from Psychedelic Shack. Hearing Melvin Franklin's spoken word piece, 'there is no young, there is no old. Reach Out & Touch your Soul' during "Take A Stroll" gave me goose bumps when I first heard the song back in 1970. Still feel it's a high point in the groups' "psychedelic/cinematic soul" era.
This was one of the big roller skating songs back in the day...we would have formations of
at least 9 people, crossing feet skating backwards, kicking out one foot in unison and rocking in time to the music the whole 12 minutes.
Listened to "Psychedelic Shack" today, honestly, what a track. The Funk Brothers are just amazing. The unedited version lets you hear them just rip the track up!!!
