30 Richest Songwriters of all Time
-
Interesting yet odd and flawed. Many on the list are actually not songwriters.
-
Thought it was gonna be a list of actual songwriters lol
-
What! No Holland-Dozier-Holland, Ashford & Simpson, Gamble & Huff or Stevie Wonder on this list? Looks flawed to me [[thanks anyway for sharing Jobeterob).

Sadly, due to Berry Gordy shenanagins I doubt that HDH or A&S earned what they should have. G&F's Philly Int'l was a legendary hot financial mess. Stevie, I believe, got good deals but maybe later in his career.

There was something online about one of the Holland’s and it wasn’t about how much money he had but rather something less positive

Ugh. Should've hired better business lawyers because I wouldn't have agreed to such deals.

Ashford & Simpson only spent 5 years with Motown [[1967-1972) during their long career. They wrote songs before and after they left the label so they should have some money. Also Stevie [[after he re-signed with Motown in 1972) had split-publishing with Jobete so I think he should've made that list.

That’s just unbelievable
I read an article saying the royalties were pledged but I don’t recall all this awful detail
Stevie Wonder has to have been left with some decent money and I’ve seen articles where he was asked for money
I understand they must tour and perform if they want to make money because the rest of it has changed and doesn’t generate the money it did before

This article doesn't even make sense. What big songs did Cher write? Waste of time here.

A&S never had no issues with money after they left Motown. And Stevie owns his post-1972 material so he's living real good. Marvin's estate still makes some good chunks off songwriting royalties and possibly publishing from Marvin's companies from later albums.

Agreed! I just looked up Cher on Wikipedia and other than a few lyrics that she contributed to her 1998 hit "Believe", she's not a songwriter of note.

Here's a site that list songs Cher wrote/co-wrote:

This is just for informational purposes.

Very wealthy people that wrote some songs
